Friends stars do Windows 95 - VIDEO

by Richard Keller, posted May 6th 2007 3:31PM

Aniston and Perry do Windows 95Ah, the 1990's! Not quite as good as the 1980's but still an okay decade. I mean, it brought us Generation X, the Grunge movement (which basically involved dressing in flannel and not showering), Boy Bands and, courtesy of Bill Gates and Microsoft -- Windows 95. You remember Windows 95, don't you? It combined Windows and DOS into one comprehensive operating system, gave us our first look at Internet Explorer, and provided us with a chance to hop on to the information superhighway.

Well, if you don't remember Windows 95, most likely because you pushed it out of your mind during numerous therapy sessions, you can now relive the major upgrade from Windows 3.1 courtesy of Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, and our friends at YouTube. You see, it seems that in a fit of 'get it while the getting is good' disease, Perry and Aniston worked together on an instructional video for Windows 95 somewhere between the first and second seasons of Friends. In the video the two actors enter the white and sterile Microsoft offices to ask Mr. Gates himself for a chance to star in the video guide to Windows 95. However, all they meet is Gates' assistant, who takes them on a tour of the new operating system.

During this journey into cyberspace Matthew and Jennifer interact with a number of Microsoft's propeller heads (the video's term, not mine), play a MIDI sound clip, and muck around with the task bar. I'm sure that it will keep you riveted to the edge of your seat. There are four parts to the video, and the first one can be found after the jump. You can also see them all at this site.

Freinds and Windows 95 are overrated. I don't think the show or the operating system will ever take hold.

I remember that video! My father borrowed it from a friend to learn Windows, sadly not even Jennifer Aniston could help my father's computing skills.
