Medium renewed for a fourth season

MediumMedium has become the Yes, Dear of "psychic who sees ghost genre and helps people," a show that not too many seem to talk about but gets pretty good ratings and gets renewed every year. See also: JAG.

NBC has given the Patricia Arquette show a fourth season, a week before the official fall 2007 lineup is announced at the network's upfront presentation. NBC President Kevin Reilly praised the show as only a network executive can (and while you read the praise, replace the title Medium with any show that NBC has canceled in the past 6 months).

"Medium is a quality show with an outstanding star that has always delivered a very loyal audience. We are pleased to know that we can look forward to more of its unique storytelling next year under executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron's superb creative vision."

I had actually forgotten that Glenn Gordon Caron does this show. I prefer Moonlighting and Now and Again.

Any show other then Medium that's on monday's at 9:00 pm will be doomed!

NBC should be running pretty close to full for the fall schedule. Saturday will be filler, and Sunday will be NFL, which leaves only 15 hours to program.

Three new dramas (3 hrs.)
A new reality show (1 hr.)
A new comedy (.5 hrs)
My Name is Earl (.5 hrs.)
30 Rock (.5 hrs.)
Scrubs (.5 hrs.)
The Office (1 hr. - probably)
ER (1 hr.)
SVU (1 hr.)
Medium (1 hr.)
Heroes (1 hr.)
Crossing Jordan (1 hr.)
The Apprentice (1 hr.)
L&O (1 hr.)
L&O:CI (1 hr.)
Friday Night Lights (1 hr.)

That's 16 hours without accounting for Dateline or other Friday/Saturday filler, so some of these shows are either cancelled or starting after football wraps up in January.

Good news! Now NBC needs to move Medium out of Wednesdays and back to Mondays where it pulled in several million more viewers -- twice the number of anything NBC has put their recently. Medium would be a much better fit with Heroes than either Studio 60 or Black Donnellys ever was.
