Modine joins cast of Weeds

by Adam Finley, posted May 8th 2007 1:20PM

matthew modineMatthew Modine will be joining the cast of the Showtime series Weeds when the program returns for its third season on August 13 (the second season ended last October). Modine will appear in ten episodes of the fifteen-episode season as Sullivan Groff, a land developer for a Christian mega-church.

I've been a fan of Modine since Full Metal Jacket, so it'll be nice to see him as a regular on Weeds. He's appeared on television before, most recently in The Bedford Diaries and in roles on The West Wing and Law & Order: SVU.

Zooey Deschanel and Carrie Fisher will also make cameo appearances in the third season.

Showtime is horrible for making fans wait so long for the next season (same goes for Dexter).

A mega church? Oh fun! So I take it they aren't moving away? Any word of if... is dead?

And this is easily the funniest show on TV.

I go back further with my love of Modine...does anyone remember Vision Quest? He should be a great addition to the cast. I look forward to seeing what's in store for season three!
