Jane Fonda gets cosy with Stephen Colbert - VIDEO

by Joel Keller, posted May 10th 2007 11:23AM
Stephen Colbert and Jane FondaAnnie briefly mentioned this in her review of last night's Daily Show, but I wanted everyone to see it for themselves. Jane Fonda appeared on The Colbert Report for the first time since she got a little frisky with Colbert in an appearance last fall. If you remember that appearance (unfortunately, the video for that was pulled from YouTube), Colbert was in a cooking segment with Fonda and another noted feminist, Gloria Steinem. There, Fonda insisted on kissing Colbert on the lips more than once, and those kisses weren't exactly motherly pecks.

So in her return visit -- she was there to promote her new movie Georgia Rule -- Fonda stepped up the flirtation by not just kissing Stephen, but sitting on his lap throughout the entire interview. Stephen, usually pretty prepared for anything during those interviews, obviously didn't expect that to happen, and seemed flustered and a little bashful during the segment (apparently, even at 69, Fonda can do that to a guy). It's pretty good TV; the video of the interview is after the jump.

"Treasonous disgrace?" I assume that's a reference to Fonda's anti-war behavior in North Vietnam. NEWS FLASH FOR FASCISTS: 1) The North Vietnamese never invaded the USA; it was the USA that invaded and destroyed North Vienam, violating all international laws, treaties, and any sense of common decency. 2) The real traitors are the superdelux, crime-worshipping American "patriots" who claim to believe in democracy but stand behind that vile "police action" that was nothing less than an act of genocide against innocent people.

FASCISTS ARE THE REAL TRAITORS TO ANY COUNTRY THEY TAKE OVER.

She's still sexy even if her brain is full of mush and her politics as scatter-brained as Sean Penn's

I wonder why these people continue to place the blame on Jane Fonda for the deaths of US soldiers in Vietnam instead of placing the blame where it belongs on lying US politicians. The first big lie that got us deeper into the mess of the Vietnam War was The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which was proven to be a lie. Just as the allegation of Iraq being an eminent threat to the US via its alleged weapons of mass destruction also turned out to be false.

Jane Fonda was not responsible for these lies that got our boys involved in an unjust war. She didn’t draft anybody & send them to fight & die & kill in Vietnam. In fact, it was Fonda & Kerry & all the people who tried to end the war who were responsible for saving many American lives.

The other big lie the politicians told to keep us in Vietnam was that if we left there would be a domino effect & all of Asia would fall to the communists. Sound familiar? Has that happened?

It’s the same lie they are telling now if we leave Iraq the terrorists will follow us. But they never say it was the US invasion that brought the terrorists to Iraq in the first place. VP Cheney running around lying about Iraq being involved in 9-11, Paul Wolfowitz. Richard Perle, & of course President Bush they are the ones responsible for Iraq, like Johnson was responsible for Vietnam. Who are the real traitors, the people like Fonda who try to end these unjust wars and stop the killing; or the lying politicians that get us involved in them in the first place?

I had never watched this show. I usually change after The Daily Show, but this was hilarious! Do I know you R11?

Why is watching non-consensual foreplay funny? If this were Sean Connery groping a female newscaster, no one would be laughing.

Poor Colbert!

This was brilliant on so many levels.

Jane is, and always has been, the mistress of her moment. I love that she hasn't succumbed to the national 'mores' of aging and she's doing it so gracefully.

I'm 18 years her junior and hope that I look half as good when I'm 69.

She gave me hope during MY protestation of the Viet Nam war and she gives me hope now that I protest this travesty.

Jane, while benigned by ultra conservatives; brain-washed by the controllers of the Chimp; is not afraid to exercise her right to speak her mind. I have always admired her (well, except for that time she married Ted) and always will.

Thanks so much for posting this! I just loved the whole dynamic. I think others in your comments said it well with the combination of Jane Fonda throwing him off his game and her looking so hot while doing it! Only a mature woman could have pulled that off. :) (says the woman who just turned 40)
