(S32E19) Cold Open: Bill Hader's Ryan Seacrest impression isn't that accurate. Has the impressions master finally met his match?! I knew Mary Katherine Gallagher would make an appearance at some point in the episode. It wouldn't be a Molly Shannon episode if she didn't. Although I'm not a fan of that character, it was a pleasant moment, if only for the nostalgia. And either Molly Shannon has lost a lot of weight or they couldn't find a top that fit her.

Monologue: I can't believe we're making fun of the 90s already. Lou Bega's "Mambo No. 5" alone is hilarious.

"Urigrow": Old commercial about Jason Sudeikis and pee.

"Penelope": If this character had started last season, she would have had an obnoxious theme song. Thank goodness she doesn't. Kristen Wiig does brilliantly with Penelope, and I enjoy her quite a bit. "That cat was my child. I was pregnant with my cat..."

"Decision 2008: Fringe Candidates Debate": Good lord. Amy Poehler makes the perfect Dennis Kucinich. She's so perfectly leprechaun-y. And I believe the PC word for "black vampire" is really "blacula" (thank you, Venture Bros). Did you all hear a strange whirring noise in the background throughout the entire sketch? I think it may have been the Wig Party. Also, "Battier than the memorabilia in Adam West's garage" is pretty much my new favorite phrase.

"The Sopranos": Sally O'Malley's back. Oh, god. I had forgotten about her. I never laughed at that character, but I was cracking up towards the end of this one. That camel toe was vicious. VICIOUS, I say.



"Weekend Update": Amy Poehler's bangs are not okay. She used to have such cute hair. Ahem, I mean... uh... Weekend Update was slightly better than usual. I always laugh at Fred Armisen's blind guy characters, which is something I'm not that proud to admit. And I can't remember when we've seen Jeanie Darcy. I know Molly Shannon has done a similar -- if not the same -- character before, but I don't think she was recurring. I just remember "Don't get me started... Don't even get me started". I loved the Paula Poundstone get-up, by the way.





"Caitlin": Caitlin... without Rick... This is sad. I kept waiting for Horatio Sanz to wander in to thunderous applause, but... no. This was mildly funny, but I don't think they should bring it back. It's not the same without Riiiiiick.

"MacGruber": Wow! Haven't seen this fellow since the Jeremy Piven episode. I kept waiting for a really gross punchline, so I was disappointed. Not even one of those awful pube jokes.

"Saturday TV Funhouse": I always thought the point of the TV Funhouse dog ripping away everything but the corner of the SNL host image was to leave the word "Saturday" so that the screen read as "Saturday TV Funhouse". They haven't done that in, like, forever. Anyway, this cartoon was crazy. I think someone just wanted to draw Einstein and Churchill with boobies. By the way, FDR is a perv.

"Charli and Toni at The Oak Room": This was okay. Molly Shannon has some pretty crazy legs.

"MacGruber": Again, I waited for a dirty punchline, but it was fruitless.



"Trump Steaks": Black anus beef. I think getting Darrell Hammond to say that was the point of the whole sketch. Also, it was good to see Hammond make multiple appearances in this episode.

"MacGruber": "Drug Lord Control Room". Awesome. David Hasselhoff and cheeseburger craziness. Double awesome.

Linkin Park: Linkin Park sounded like Linkin Park. Good work.

Next time: Season finale! Zach Braff and Maroon 5. I believe it will be Braff's first time hosting. He's generally a funny guy, so if he does poorly, my heart will break. Cue sappy Maroon 5 music, preferably "She Will Be Loved".

I didn't really care for Molly Shannon when she was on SNL... In fact, I found her a little irritating. So when I ended up liking this episode, it really surprised me. Nice job, Shannon, you won me over... kind of. Six out of seven, I say, just 'cause Shannon did well.
