Matthew Fox's Columbia speech - VIDEO
As you may remember from an earlier post, Lost actor Matthew Fox was asked to be the keynote speaker at Columbia College Class Day at Columbia University. While Fox is an alumnus of the university, some graduating students were disappointed with the choice. The actor had the chance to win over his critics on Tuesday, and appears to have succeeded.
The speech itself was humorous, inspirational, and engaging. Fox even poked fun at a graduate who had told the student newspaper that she had never heard of him.
Video of Fox's speech is available after the jump.
My favorite part of the speech was Fox's story about interviewing with an investment banking firm in a borrowed suit that was several inches too short. A poll in the Columbia Daily Spectator named Fox as the best 2007 commencement speaker by a considerable margin. The actor received 81% of the votes, beating out actress Anna Deavere Smith, architect Santiago Calatrava, and attorney Deborah Marshall.
