Is Simon Cowell quitting American Idol?

Simon CowellSure, Simon threatened to quit American Idol if Sanjaya won, but that seemed unlikely to ever happen. Look, even if Sanj did win by some miracle, Simon would have had to fulfill his contract with the show for the next three years. So Simon was never going anywhere. But that doesn't mean he won't quit -- eventually.

In fact, Simon recently announced that after his contract is up he will be moving on from the show that helped make him a super-rich celebrity.

He told Extra that he'll be leaving after the show's 10th season because, "I'll have done 10 series and your time's up. It's time then to do something new. I think it's time to bring in new people ... Ten years is a long time."

When asked who he'd choose to replace him, Simon said, "Donald Trump."

I personally dislike Trump and will never watch the show again if Trump becomes one of the celebrity judges. Sure Simon is nasty, but Trump is nasty-looking. Plus, underneath his facade, I get the impression that Simon really is a good guy who is just "acting a part" for TV. However, I think Donald Trump really is as nasty as he appears to be. And what the heck does Trump know about music?

Let's be honest, by year 10, American Idol is going to be well past its prime and I doubt bringing an aging grumpy Trump into the mix is going to seriously reinvigorate the show. Besides, American Idol would not be the same without Simon Cowell.

Would you watch American Idol without Simon? I wouldn't.

personally, I think this whole season of American Idol
SUCKED BIG GREEN HAIRY SLIMEY DONKEY POOP!!!!
I have been a strong die hard fan and watcher since the very first season, and I think this one was just ridiculous Chris should have never been voted off no frigging way and I am sorry but Jordan is in no way a good enough singer to be an american idol!!! She is ok but that is it . Sorry just my opinion. No, If Simon was not on the show I would not watch it because he makes the show, He is brutal but honest and most of the time like 90 % of the time I agree with him. I just might not said it the way he phrased it or something. But Again, since they voted Chris off I have not watched and unsure if I will again. Just Very unhapppy with the way this whole season turned out Jordan did not deserve to win what a crock. Yes, she was nice and sweet and all but I thought this was a singing contest and personally I thought this in the beginning the American Idol was suposed to be the " All Around" Idol, able to sind, dance and dress, and have a good personality and be a good role model etc... boy has it changed. Owell life goes on. Yall take care be good and be real. Have a blessed one.

Simon's comments are what makes the show so funny and popular! I think the show really should be no more after this season. It had some of the worst talent this year and it showed! No more Idol would be appreciated and gee Simon Cowell can do dancing with the stars or something lese that he can scowel about! Shows need to end when they are past their prime and American Idol is way past!

Side Show Bob!

The one truism about this entire American Idol season is that it is finally OVER! To view this entire "mockery" of what used to be a very entertaining show was, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most difficult task the American public had to endure! The whole "Sanjaya" issue took way too long to reach its edipice, and the shows judges became so rhetorical one could anticipate what each judgement would profess, to the point of absurity, to be even considered a judgement. The producers have until January to correct their faults or this one time entertaining show will be jetisoned into television obscurity never to return again!

I don't agree about the talent, I think Jordin is far from a Britney/Simpson wanna be... When she sings, she has her heart into it. Melinda was good also, but her facial expressions became boring as the weeks went by. Jordin Sparks is beautiful, young and talented and deserved to win American Idol.

If Simon left the show, regardless of how arrogant he is, it would be boring. If he is replaced with Donald Trump, it would be a nightmare!!!!!!!!!

I've never watched "Idol" until this year and now I know that I didn't miss a thing. Simon Cowell, the only real judge of talent, is the back bone of this production. I found myself consistently agreeing with his assessment of the contestants. There was truly no real talent amongst the final 12, with the exception of Melinda Doolittle. The final two were pathetic. Jordin Sparks, a Karaoke "Spears/Simpson type" wanna be that had trouble carrying any song she tried to sing, and Blake Lewis, a gimicky soul that lacked the ability to project any feeling in his performances. It appeared he didn't know who he wanted to sound like.
Mediocrity reins supreme when it comes to the judgment of the "American Idol" voters.
Too bad.

They need to start charging 25 cents per call to stop the hillbillies from sitting around all night hitting the redial button.
