House: Human Error (season finale)

house finale
(S03E23) Here's something I found odd about tonight's episode, though not really having to do with it being a season finale. Why is it that a seemingly not-so-well-off Cuban couple can go through great pains to find House, and yet this is what I believe to be the first time a foreign patient has sought out House's expertise?

Moreover, I'm somewhat baffled that the law would just so easily let Cuban refugees come right in and give them exactly what they want. As for the medical records left drifting out at sea, it seemed a lot of emphasis was put on those documents when it seems they would've done no good.

I know -- these are petty things to gripe about overall, but I just found them as odd. Now let's get to the larger part of the episode: the dissolution of House's team.

At the episode's end, we're left with two big questions. How will next season start out with House and no (or a new) team, and how will he get Foreman, Chase and Cameron back in some sort of believable way? It's hard to imagine what would possess Chase to come back to House's side, nevermind Foreman. Cameron I could see having a change of heart, though that seems unlikely.

This is what makes this finale so great. We're left to wonder how this team could possibly get back together after such a crappy dismissal from House. I believe there are rumors (or more than rumors) that one of the team won't be back next season, but there's no way all of them would be eliminated.

Here's something that occurred to me when House mentioned his lack of concern to his new Cuban friend. Could we at some point find out that House is suffering from some sort of chemical imbalance or anomaly that causes him to behave the way he does? In the past we've seen that the drugs he's on are part of the reason he acts the way he does, but is that the full story? When have we seen him actually show compassion without being forced in some way?

rating 6It was a no-brainer for FOX to bring this show back for another season this fall, even giving it the coveted post-Super Bowl slot. Hopefully the writers will continue to not rely on the multi-episode arc stories and keep the bulk of the episodes as self-contained. This is one of those shows I enjoy to watch without having to sit through a plotline that has nothing to do with why I enjoy the show so much.

I was taping "House" final episode but my tape cut off just as the Cuban woman's heart started up again after he had turned off all the machines! Could someone clue me in as to the last few minutes, please? Thanks

My predictions:

Foreman will take the diagnostics job cuddy offered him(He does not want to leave and he is the only one house tried to keep).

Cameron and Chase will get their own show.

House will get a new team.

If they take a leaf out of Joss Whedon's book, we'll see all three operating independently of House and gradually coming back to the fold for all sorts of reasons. It worked for Angel after firing his crew, it could work for House, though I doubt he'll apologise and buy Cameron new clothes...

Well, thank you for your response back, and I do apologized, at least you had the courtesy of responding, I just felt very offended.. However I did have good Point in my argument of the other couples that have also played a part in the show. But I know that keeping your response to a minium is safe. Thank you!

A new season might have a member of the former team come back once or twice for part or most of an episode...don't make the new team three members again, perhaps a two- or a four-member team.

@danay: You obviously read much more into my post than was meant. By the tone of your comment I'm sure there'd be no point in arguing with you that I'm no racist, as you'd clearly gloss over that and persue your agenda of calling me out as a racist. Something I'm most definitely not, by the way.

And that's all I have to say about that.

What’s going on with the CUBAN REMARKS.. are you guys against Cubans or what? I am Cuban and very proud to be "I speak perfect English" in fact most people think I’m American", I come from a large family of Cubans and Cuban American, who by the way are very wealthy and own very large corporate companies around the world. In my ”Cuban” family there are Lawyers, Doctors, Teacher, and many Law Enforcement Officers who serve this country very proudly.. SO what if they pick a CUBAN COUPLE... They make episodes about American Couple, African, Asian and even MEXICAN (Cuddy's Handyman) and now they make 1 episode with CUBANS and you’re making this rude comments. Shame on you! What do you think we all live in MIAMI? I admit, most do because off the climate and also because of the Latin Environment. But many live in New Jersey, New York, and California too, Trust me I have friends and relatives there too.

Look I love HOUSE and I respect everyone comments but I think the way "Keith McDuffee" refers to CUBANS in his first 2 paragraph of this (season finale) summary is uncalled for, he even said “ I found odd about tonight's episode, though not really having to do with it being a season finale” So why bring this up.. Unless you he is against CUBAN. I mean you speak as if you know Cubans... Do you? Or are you just make comments up by STEREOTYPING us. Those CUBAN Remarks are just unnecessary. There is nothing ODD about a CUBAN couple or any other couple from any other Nationally or Culture going to great plain to find House, or any other Doctor, even is they are “ not-so-well-off Cuban” , we have seen it before in “HOUSE” so don't be "baffled", you need to go back and take a look at other HOUSE EPISODE maybe the you will be “Baffled” again! And about the Cuban not speaking very good English, come on it’s a show, how about the Mexican Speak good English or the Asian guy (all in House Episodes)..

Oh one more thing “Keith McDuffee" what do you mean by: “Moreover, I'm somewhat baffled that the law would just so easily let Cuban refugees come right in and give them exactly what they want” Is that part of the show summery too or that just you being a “RACIST” and using this opportunity to make your remarks, if you have a problem with the law deal with the law makers and do something about it.. I am sure the law would of done the same thing if a situation like Hitler will occur again... they would help those in need .. JUST IN CASE YOU HAVE NOT HEARD CUBA IS A COMMUNIST COUNTRY.. There is NO FUTURE THERE. Not because we don’t want to have one but because we can’t !! I think before you make these remark you need to take a couple of hours and study about Cuba... and Analyzed there living condition and critical situation there...

Oh yes! Having House go through a couple of teams would be great - especially if any of them are part of the team that Cuddy was leading through the hospital in that one scene.

Couple of comments:
The Cuban couple - the husband said, at one point, "I have permission". I took that to indicate that he had permission to leave and seek other treatment for his wife, and so it's possible that he had specific permission to find House. Therefore, he could have landed in Miami and been allowed to go forward - keeping in mind this is all in television-world and not real world

The whole team dissolution - I don't think it's a dream sequence, but I do think that the team is going to be back. We already know (doe to loose lips in interviews) that one will be back (unless he's misleading us in interviews). The other two? I suspect they'll be back and that's because of Cuddy's statement that it's her hospital, her floor. They'll be back, but maybe not working for House - maybe in their own diagnostic unit, or in some other capacity within the hospital. Therefore they'll have to interact with House and the new ducklings. And somehow (within 5-8 episodes) they'll be back together as the old team....
