Stump the King - The Bionic Woman

Jonathan BanksOnce again, a fan wrote in to get some help remembering a show. This question brought back a lot of memories for me and it probably will for most of you as well.

Dann Chenn writes, "So, question about an old show from the 80's. I have no idea about the title. Not even a particularly good show, just remember watching it. The story revolved around a family that started off on a tour of the Egyptian pyramids with a questionable guide. While crawling around and earthquake hits. The guide takes off, family trapped, but some how, some way, they wind up in some alternate universe. This short lived series followed them going from town to town, running from some evil, officer of the law trying to stay one step ahead."

Right away, I recognized the show as Otherworld which starred Sam Groom, Tony O' Dell and Jonathan Banks as Kommander Kroll. Thanks for the query Dann; glad to help.

This week's question is in honor of the return of The Bionic Woman and should be easy for fans of great TV...

On what show did a character dress up as Jamie Summers for Halloween and what was that character's name?

It only took Jeff nine minutes to come up with the correct answers of Freaks & Geeks and Bill Haverchuck. Way to go, Jeff.

No matter how many different roles I see Jonathan Banks in, he'll always be the guy from Airplane who opens up the microwave and says "About two more minutes, chief!"

Otherworld was one of my favorite shows when it aired in '85. I was a kid and loved the premise of a family trapped in some alternate world trying to get home. Unfortunately CBS saw it as a mid-season filler, and nobody really watched. The show never really ended either, they sort of left it hanging. Supposedly there are 4 scripts floating around that resolve it. I'd love to see them someday.
