Apple TV to offer YouTube video

youtube appleUsually I don't mention technical stuff on this blog, mostly because such things cause my brain to freeze. Seriously, I can barely operate a manual can opener without crying.

Anyway, our pals over at the Unofficial Apple Weblog and Endgadget have been covering the All Things Digital conference, and one of their reports caught my eye: the new Apple TV will include an option to watch YouTube video right on your TV screen.

Now, don't ask me about picture quality or any of that stuff, because I don't know. And Steve Jobs himself said at the conference that the option to watch YouTube vids had more to do with content than the quality of the picture. Either way, this feels like a nice step in the right direction. I think eventually we'll be able to use our televisions to watch everything from regular TV shows to online stuff. Of course, there are methods of watching online video on a television right now (I do it myself), but what we need is a device that makes it easy for everyone.

The YouTube option for Apple TV is expected to launch in mid-June.
