Is Paula Abdul going to adopt a baby?

Paula AbdulPaula Abdul, often seen as a nurturing, loving maternal-figure to American Idol's young contestants, is now talking about her desire to experience personal motherhood. Paula says she "loves kids" and she'll consider adoption if she is unable to produce her own mini-Abduls.

Still, the 44-year-old former cheerleader remains optimistic about her chances of giving birth to a biological child. "With medical technology these days, I could have children by myself using a donor. But I would rather be in a relationship so the child has a father to help instill core values," Paula said.

Paula's not getting any younger, and if she wants to find a life partner and start a family anytime soon she needs to focus on those goals. Which is why I think Paula should star in a brand-new reality TV show called Will You Marry Me?

Here's how it will work. A nationwide search for potential suitors will be held throughout the United States and possibly Canada. Over 13 weeks, Paula will go a series of televised dates. Simon and Randy will judge each date and decide if the contestant remains in the competition. The Top 3 Suitors will be asked to perform some sort of "challenge" and the American audience will call or text in their votes for their favorite contestants. During Sweeps Week, Paula and the finalist will marry live on FOX. Ryan Seacrest will officiate, as well as remind us (at least twelve times) that the wedding is sponsored by Cingular, Coca-Cola, and Ford.

The next season, cameras will follow Paula as she tries to conceive her first child. If Paula does decide to adopt, a worldwide search will be held to find "the best adoptee EVER." And of course, the American audience will ultimately decide which baby Paula brings home.

I know it's a bit derivative, with the same exact formula of every other reality TV show, but that's why I think it could work. That's my pitch, and if FOX wants it, they know where to find me.

After the suitor is chosen, each time that he and Paula try to conceive, she could respond to his performance with, "I'm proud of you" as the camera pans over to two glasses of Coke on the nightstand.
