What I'm watching this summer: Isabelle's list
Summer is here and so are new TV shows. I haven't watched summer TV for the past 16 years or so because I had a summer job away from home where there was one TV for about 200 persons (yikes!). Okay, I did watch some thanks to two VCRs, tons of tapes, and family members who went to my house a few times during the summer to change tapes and reprogram both VRCs. I know, I'm a TV addict. Summer 2007 will be kind of special for me because the TV/me ratio will now be 4/1 and I'll be able to watch everything live. Granted that I don't get channels like HBO, Showtime, Sci Fi, and USA, I'm sure I'll still be able to watch a few entertaining series or should I say, reality shows?
Big Brother (CBS) - I've been addicted to this series since it first premiered. It's not the best reality TV series out there but it's entertaining. I mostly enjoy it for the scheming done by players. Last summer was great entertainment, will this year be too?
America's Got Talent (NBC) - I watched the final month or so of the first season of this reality series. I'm certainly not adding it to my summer watch list because of the judges even though they are not all coming back. I thought that last year's judges made comments that sometimes made no sense and I doubt it'll change this season. I will watch AGT because of the talent, or lack of, the contestants will display. Will this year have its Singing Grandma?
Kyle XY (encores on ABC) - All my friends have been telling me about this show last summer and I wasn't able to watch it. When Season 2 reruns on ABC, I'll make sure to watch and see what the hype is.
Canadian Idol (CTV) - Being a fan of the American Idol auditions as well as Hollywood week, I will have to watch those episodes on the Canadian version of the show. However, as it is the case for the U.S. version, I expect to tune out comes the Top 12 as I'm not entertained anymore and I just can't believe how badly people are voting. Let's hope that Canadian Idol 2007 doesn't have its version of Sanjaya this season.
As you can see, my summer watch list doesn't have very profound and well-written shows. I'm still praying that Space (the local SciFi channel where I live) will air new episodes of The 4400 or Eureka and the likes so I can have something more consistent to chew on until September arrives.
