Rescue Me: Tuesday

(S04E02) "Oh, I'm looking forward to a lot of things. A nice big breakfast, a trip up to Aqueduct, and finally being able to sleep on my stomach again!" - Uncle Teddy
Well for all of you naysayers, get over it. Sheila is alive. Although I have to admit, I'm in the "I wish she were dead" camp too. As it is, we're already getting close to no Jimmy this season and I personally think Sheila would have made a great addition to Tommy's ghost parade. Although, after the brief glimpse of Johnny under the couch covers, it looks like he might be joining the ranks. Tommy's hallucinations aside, what a great episode. There is a reason this show gets such great reviews. From "the spank bank" to Cousin Eddie and his support of Tommy's "ineffective" penis to Lou trying to promote racial harmony, you can't miss a second of this show.
Sheila... you love to hate her. It's all about the money for her. I just can't wait for the glorious moment when Tommy finally finds out what really happened that night at the beach house. After Nona pulled him from the fire, he was unconscious, was definitely given oxygen by an EMT, the whole nine yards. My best guess? He was probably in a hospital for maybe a week after the fire, right? Sound reasonable? Wouldn't he have had blood drawn upon his arrival and initial check-up? To me, that makes the most sense in terms of Tommy finding out the truth. Somewhere, in some Long Island hospital's bio-fridge, is a vial of Tommy's blood and it is chock full of roofies. I'm just throwing ideas out there, but please, flood the comments if you can think of something else. Man... I hate Sheila.
OK, moving on. How funny is Uncle Teddy? Running away from the wife? Priceless. I'm glad we're getting more from him because he was barely in season three. Here's my gripe though. He murdered Connor's killer in cold blood. At a train station! In front of dozens, maybe hundreds, of people! How did MADD lobbying for him get him off after only serving about 2 years? Sure, he killed a guy that certainly had it coming... but c'mon. Seems a little unlikely, no?
Beyond that, plenty else happened. Mike's mom asking him to kill her? Not even going to comment on that. As far as Colleen running away with her "rock star" boyfriend? That guarantees us plenty of funny lines from Tommy. What is worth talking about? Jerry. This guy's life is falling apart. His wife has no idea who he is. His future at the FDNY is completely uncertain pending those medical tests, while Needles and Pecher take over his house. And now, the one thing he's never been truly able to come to terms with is slapping him in the face. His gay son Peter is getting married. Frankly, I'm not seeing many things for Jerry to smile about lately. Something to think about I guess.
Lou's involvement in this episode was interesting too. No sign of his ex-nun girlfriend, but he was campaigning to add Bart (Larenz Tate) to the 62 Truck basketball roster. New probie with a killer 3-point shot. Lou was fighting with a guy from some other house though. Jimmy the Jew. He said he'd come after Lou and Tommy and the whole house if they stole Bart from him. Lou backed right off. Notice that? And later, when Tommy had the whole crew drive after his daughter, Lou said he was worried about Tommy and bringing attention to the house. My whole point here? Is Lou hiding something he doesn't want dug up? I could really just be reading into this way too deep. He may just honestly care about Tommy's future. I do too though. Remember when Tommy left and went to the other house in Long Island? Ugh... boring.
In closing, three words. Beveled glass doorknob. Go ahead, laugh.
