Wayne Brady hosting new lyric challenge on FOX

wayne bradyWayne Brady will host Don't Forget the Lyrics, a new game show in which contestants must not forget the lyrics (in case the unoriginal title didn't make that clear).

The series debuts on FOX July 11 at 9:30 p.m. and July 12 at 8:30 p.m., and features contestants singing along with a studio band, the words in front of them karaoke-style. When the music stops and the words disappear, the contestant must continue to sing the correct lyrics. If the contestant correctly guesses nine lyrics in a row, they have one final chance to try for a tenth lyrics and the chance to win one million dollars.

If this sounds familiar, that's because NBC's Great American Singing Bee is pretty much the exact same concept. I don't quite understand how two networks became infatuated with this idea, but I blame the popularity of karaoke. And like karaoke, I assume these shows will be much tolerable if you've had a few drinks beforehand.

My husband would like to be a contestant, they advertise after the show to go to fox 5 to become a contstant, but can't find anything. Can you help me.. he is really good
knows and can sing so many songs, I think he would be great on the show.

They should get rid of some of the lame shows like "Christine" and "Two and a Half Men" and make room for Don't Forget the Lyrics. It's entertaining and a family show stopper!

I really love this show, Don't Forget The Lyrics, and I really think they couldn't have picked a better host than Wayne Brady. He is not only one of the most talented celebrities in today's entertainment world, he's a compassionate and enthusiastic host.

Kudos on a fabulous show and congratulations to Wayne Brady on a job well done.

Leann Rimes, "How Do I Live" uses the word, REAL and not GOOD. Tricia Yearwood's version says, GOOD. How did the lady get 300000 dollars.

Lyrics!?!?!? What about the lyrics to songs that make ABSOLUTELY no sense, or are at least questionable in nature? :)

Wayne is AWESOME - - Whom ever wrote this review should have passed it on to someone who LOVES karaoke - The final sentence was really not all that funny. Karaoke is about fun and music - not about singing well (although so many do). Being a NONDRINKER myself, and a karaoke lover, it does not require a DRINK to make it "tolerable". Usually those who do not enjoy karaoke are those that sit there "idle" - no hand clapping, they dont feel the music . . .?? All in all I am glad to see the shows airing (both of them). It is about time we had some good wholesome television back on the air!!
