Animation news: Shaun heads to Disney, Homer gets stolen and more - VIDEO

dangermouseHere's some animation news:

Aardman Animation, the studio behind various Wallace and Gromit projects and the new CBS series Creature Comforts, is bringing its Shaun the Sheep series to the Disney Channel starting July 8. The series, aimed towards younger kids, focuses on a barnyard sheep who gets into crazy adventures with his animal pals.

Nahnatchka Kahn, a writer and producer on FOX's recently-renewed series American Dad, has been bumped up to executive producer on the series and will also be developing new projects for the studio.

Kahn previously wrote for such series as Recess, Unfabulous and Malcolm in the Middle.

Do you wish you could dress like DangerMouse? Of course you do. New licensing deals for the character have just been secured. That's cool for older folks like myself who know what DangerMouse is (though I always liked its spin-off, Count Ducklula, much more), but do today's kids even know who DangerMouse is? Well, if a pair of DangerMouse underpants was on your wishlist, I'm happy I could bring you this good news.

In Malaysia, some Simpsons fans swiped a statue of Homer from a local theater. The statue was part of a promotional display for the upcoming movie that also included the rest of the Simpson clan. Lucky for Homer, he was found and returned safely. Authorities haven't yet decided if they'll charge the young twentysomethings who took the statue.

Finally, check out the opening sequence to the Aqua Teen movie below. It's pretty awesome.

Don't be put off watching Shaun the Sheep just because it's aimed at younger kids. There are some very witty and clever elements to it, that adults will appreciate as well. Indeed some of the gags will probably sweep straight over kids' heads.

Cool about the DM goods. I still have a 14 inch Dangermouse plush doll from the last round in the 90's!

I read on TVShowsOnDVD that Danger Mouse: The
Complete Series Box Set is coming out September 28,
2007. BCI Entertainment Rights has already finished its
entire He-Man & She-Ra Box Sets, so it shouldn't be too
long before another mouse (Mighty Mouse), gets his long
overdue chance at being restored on DVD, after an 18
year absence from Television. All the other cartoon greats
have been released, some of which I wasn't expecting like
Kool McKool, Batfink, and The Mr. Magoo Show. If anyone
can possibly E-Mail me in the future on any information
as to when the following cartoon series' will be available
on DVD, PLEASE, let me know as soon as you get it.
Thank you.

Cartoons on DVD I'd like to see...

Felix The Cat: The Complete Color Series (1958-'59)
What's New, Mr. Magoo (1978-'80)
The Grape Ape Show (1976-'78)
The Tom & Jerry Comedy Show (1980-'82)
The New Adventures Of Mighty Mouse (1979-'82)
The All-New Popeye Hour (1978-'83)
