Don't forget! Wimbledon starts today!

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 25th 2007 7:26AM
WimbledonThere are exactly two things I like about summer: tennis and baseball. The rest of it can go to hell (and considering the temps it usually feels that way).

Not just playing tennis, but watching it too. ESPN2 begins their daily coverage of Wimbledon this morning at 8am. The network will have 9 hours of coverage today and most days for the next two weeks (except the weekends, when NBC will have coverage during the day). You can follow the action at espn.com or the official Wimbledon site. They're using that Hawkeye system for the first time this year.

And no, that doesn't mean Alan Alda will be making line calls.

I may catch the first hour of coverage on ESPN in the morning (yeah, I get up early). But the only way I will watch the matches is the live online feed. I try to watch the courts where there is no BBC commentary, only the normal sounds of a live tennis match.

Tennis was not meant to be watched with commentators!

Of course it's raining, it's Wimbeldon... and it's just following Glastonbury. Thus by the law that govern the UK weather (which it would seem generally have very little to do with normal things like, say, the fact it's summer), it is going to rain.

Though couldn't you have kept it down South over Wimbeldon? We're getting the worst of it up here in Yorkshire... still I get to see if York manages to flood more severly than the record breaking 2000 floods.

Don't hold your breath!

We're expecting the heaviest day of rain in 50 years here in England today. I live in north london, and its been raining constantly here all morning. Play has already been delayed until this afternoon, and i dont expect any games to start today!
