Is MSNBC making a mistake moving Scarborough?
Should MSNBC keep Joe Scarborough in primetime instead of giving him the morning slot?
MSNBC is showing remarkable growth in primetime for the third straight quarter. Scarborough Country was up 36% in the 9pm slot. Hardball with Chris Matthews was up 9% at 7pm, and Countdown with Keith Olbermann was up 54%. The network is up 49% in the 25-54 demographic overall in primetime, and 34% for the day total.
Of course, Scarborough won't stay at night. He's suddenly become too important to them in the morning too. Right now the network's GM Dan Abrams has a show in that slot (I think it's called I'm Dan Abrams and I'm Always Right - Live!, or something like that). The disturbing news is that the "doc-block" shows at 10pm are up the most - 45% total and 66% 25-54. Gah. Maybe the network will go all docs at some point, if this keeps up.
