Looks like Burn Notice is a hit

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 9th 2007 3:01PM

Burn NoticeFour million people tuned into the series premiere of USA Network's Burn Notice two weeks ago, and they held on to most of those viewers last week.

The Thursday night show has become a hit for USA. Most shows get big numbers for their premieres, because of lots of advertising and curiosity (*cough* Studio 60 *cough*), but don't hold on to them. It looks like fans like viewers like Burn Notice enough to give it another shot.

Besides the big advertising push (you've seen ads here and on a ton of other web sites, and the TV ads have been pretty consistent), USA is smartly using top movies and TV shows to lead into Burn Notice, which is something I've always said all the networks should do. Of course, if this show was on ABC, CBS, NBC, or FOX, it would already be on hiatus.

Behind only 24 and just above Heros, this is my new favorite show. Man I hope it stays around for awhile.

I really enjoyed the show and anyone who remembers Jeffey Donovan from "Toaching Evil" (See: Brilint but Canceled web sit), knows its about time we see him again in a lead. I was little disapointed when I found out it was a voice over but some how they made it work much like "Dexter" has. I'm a huge bruce Campbell fan and I think he will be important to the future of the show. My only real complaint would be to downplay the family angle and the "McGuyver/A-team" 80's bit and make it a little more serious. Not "Dexter/Sheild" dark but serious with a light heart like "Rescue Me/Closer". All in all I plan on supporting the show.

I think Burn Notice is very entertaining and believe it to be a summer hit. Just watch it and chill out, for the fun of the show. I would like to see Sharon Gless get away from the smoking and pick up a hobby like cooking different foods and pawning them off to Jeff, his girlfriend, and side kick Bruce though. Just move away from the negative of smoking.

At first I thought, another dead-end show to fill gaps during the summer. I didn't catch the first pilot, but after that, I was SPRUNG! I love the way this guy gives US tips about the art of fighting without a weapon. I love his interaction with kids! He keeps you wide-eyed and ears opened! I like watching it...twice.

I like this show a lot more than I thought I would. It just plain entertains me. It's not "thought-provoking", or "inspiring", or "deeply emotional", or any of that stuff. Yeah, yeah, those shows have their place and I enjoy them, too. But sometimes I just want to be entertained, and laugh, and not be bored, and not analyze anything. And this show, so far, does it.

And come on, Bruce Campbell. Seriously. Yay.

I was interested after seeing the ads. My better half was not convinced until she was in the room while I watched the first ep. She was hooked then.
