The Gauchos of Southern California really confuse me. Their mascot is not a gaucho, but one known as The Phantom, who maurades around the field. I'm not sure which is more offensive to the Chicano/Latino community.

I remember reading the book that the movie and show were based on back in high school.

We were the politically incorrect Watertown Indians in My High School. Stereotypical mascot with mascara and warrior axe? Oh Yeah, we had that covered.

How about this one, my High School mascot was the 'Mustang'. Basically a big black horse costume that ran around doing crazy stuff during the football game. We also had the girl version, 'Mustang Sally', who was a cheerleader and wore the cute little cheer leading costume over the horse costume and ran around doing gymnastics and being silly. Best part about 'Mustang Sally', I married her!

My high school was known as the Red Raiders and we had an Indian for a mascot. During the course of my time being at this HS, we didn't change the name, but we did change the mascot... twice. First we went from an Indian to a big red W. (My high school was Wauwatosa East). Then the last year of high school it was changed to just an arrow. Who knows what it is now.

One of the catholic high schools mascots always amused me. The men's teams were known as the popes, and the women's teams were the Lady Popes. Just gave me a chuckle.

My high school mascot was the Bobcat. Except the head of the mascot was huge and looked more like a lion.
