Eureka: Phoenix Rising (season premiere)

I don't think that Henry remembered the future. Remember, he didn't go back from the future, that was his current self. I think he just knows what Jack told him and that Jack stopped him from saving Kim.

I've just seen last week all the episodes from season 1 and I was hooked but there's one thing that's been bugging me:

Why didn't Kim protect herself from the artifact, I mean she could have been behind the glass with Stark controlling the REMOTE robot. She might as well drilled the artifact by herself!

I agree that replacing Stark with Allison was so obvious that I found it painful to watch her tell him, but I do like the darker tone... however it would have been much more interesting to have Jack with the memories throughout the season. It was the only advantage he had over the whole town full of Brainiacs. Now he'll just go back to being Sheriff Andy Taylor ... "Jeez, what should I do now, Barney?"

Holy mother of God, what a stupifyingly awful hour of television--and this coming from someone who was a fan up until now. Yes, last season had its ups and downs, but even the clunky episodes had consistent characterization and wit. This was a pale imitation of the best of last year, and poor Colin Ferguson in particular is clearly struggling to deliver wretched, witless, by-the-numbers dialogue. ("I guess that's why he didn't answer his phone." "Well, that's new." Jeebus, the writer has a real gift for not knowing when to have the characters STOP TALKING.) Henry erasing Carter's memory will come as a shocking twist to anyone who's wholly new to the concept of, oh, say, foreshadowing; I have no idea why Beverly was at the lab to begin with when her main purpose in being there was to be ordered TO LEAVE; and the "big reveal" that Allison got the job couldn't have been more aggressively telegraphed throughout that scene if she'd been waving semaphore flags the whole time. And so on. Wow...I so loved that first season, too.

Wait, what was the artifact again?

I'm so glad Eureka's back! Despite the show's darker tone, I'm still loving it. I feel bad for both Carter and Henry, it was heartbreaking that Carter had to lose his happy memories of "Ally". It'll definitely interesting to see where they take this season, but I bet we retain some of the humor from last season.

Hmmm. This show needs the old humor back and Henry being a bad guy doesn't sound good. If it goes on this darker way I see it ending this season.

Henry obviously still wants to figure out a way to save Kim. Now that Jack doesn't remember there isn't anyone to prevent him from trying again.

Yeah it wasn't a bad episode or anything, but the dark direction they seem to be heading might take away a lot of what made the first season fun. But I'll trust them to know what's best for now.

I think Henry took a job at GD to get closer to allison, as he wants to make Jack Pay for stopping him from Saving Kim, it all sounds Soap Opera-y but it would make for some interesting character development.
