The Dead Zone: Interred

johnny and turner(S06E05) This episode was fine. It was interesting, had some urgency and thrills. It had some humor and some pathos. But it feels an awful lot like starting over. And I am just not sure why at this point. Especially if they are killing the Stillson storyline. I have liked the show, and I think the show showed some promise earlier in the season. But it feels a little old and a little tired.

I wish they would move forward with the information about why Sheriff Turner is investigating Walt. They haven't really touched upon that, though, to look at the show's website, you would think this investigation was going to be plastered all over every episode.

Regarding this episode's primary plot, I thought Mack was a bad guy when they were over at Beth and Jesse's house. There was something about the way Beth treated him when he offered to go help her make coffee that made me suspect him. Then, I was really disappointed when he just jumped down and started helping Johnny dig for Jesse-- it made me doubt my own instincts. So, I was really happy when Mack popped Johnny on the head with the shovel.

Do you think Anna, Ms. Straight and Narrow, was really planning to do anything with that gun beside her in the car? And if she was, don't you think Johnny should, maybe, report her? I just don't really like the actress. I think that is my biggest problem with the sheriff. She is a little flat.

Despite what Anna Turner says at the end of the episode, did anybody else get the distinct impression that this was the Buddy Bonding episode? I am not picking up any romantic energy between Johnny and Anna, but it looks like the show's producers want to make them Sheriff and Sidekick. I am not really sure how she convinced him to go out and look for Jesse early in the show-- I don't think she really started believing his visions until this episode when he saw Emmett's death. Of course, I think that was the point of seeing those visions. She not only has to believe him, but they have to have Intimate Shared Knowledge. So they can at least start to trust each other.

I hope next week is better.

Do you like the actress who plays Anna Turner?

Ongoing Walt investigation... Sounds like there's a plan for a TDZ clip show episode.

How scared the guy was that the sheriff had by the collar screamed untrue to me. The show could have done very well without that scene at all. I really loved this episode, though. He got hit over the head with a shovel and buried alive. How cool is that?

I don't think Cara Buono is bad as the sheriff. (She played Christopher's girlfriend, then wife, toward the end of "The Sopranos.")

What bugs me is that on TV, every woman has to be gorgeous and relatively young, including those in positions of power. I know we're supposed to suspend our disbelief, but this character doesn't project nearly enough authority to handle a job like that.

But she is purty, and I guess for TV sheriffs that's what's really important.
