CBS press tour preview - TCA report

by Michael Maloney, posted Jul 18th 2007 3:01PM
CBS president Nina Tassler Full disclosure: as a former CBS page, I always have a soft spot for the Eye network's TCA day.

Whenever I see the CBS pages at the press tour in their bright red sports coats, I always think -- why couldn't we have had sharp navy blue ones like the NBC ushers?

Today's lineup includes an executive session with CBS president Nina Tassler. While she may not have to answer the question about the finale of The Sopranos (that round-up inquiry has faded from sessions) she won't likely get off the hook completely. Usually, one journalist asks her about bringing back Joan of Arcadia.

After the executive session, we'll get panels and follow ups with the producers and cast members from Cane (which stars Jimmy Smits and deals with a family in the rum business), informals with Shark (James Woods is always entertaining and never at a loss for words), and How I Met Your Mother (yeah, I'm pretty sure who the mother is).

Other new shows that'll be presented include Kid Nation (a reality show where kids rule...the 12 year old in my says, "yeah!"), Moonlight (The Shield's Alex O'Loughlin as a vampire) and The Big Bang Theory, a sitcom by Chuck Lorre, creator of Two and a Half Men.

It'll be a relatively early evening, which is good because the prime time Emmy nominations are announced at 5:40 AM on Wednesday. CBS will end the night with a happy hour with cast and producers from The Big Bang Theory.

I bet a few guest stars drop by for that, too.

Funny, Porchland. I thought the same thing when I was a kid!

They Eye. I actually grew up watching sports on CBS and thought the logo was a basketball, football and baseball.

I also thought Goldie Hawn's name was "Golbie" until I was, like, in college.
