Comic-Con: Preview Night
Comic-Con 2007 officially began with Wednesday's "Preview Night" or, as I like to call it, "Get the Lay of the Land So You Don't Get Trampled to Death by a Grown Man in a Pikachu Costume Night."Over the next couple of days, I'll be covering panels featuring the casts of Lost, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica and a few of this coming season's most anticipated new shows - Pushing Daisies, Reaper and Chuck among others. You can keep abreast of the latest scoop by following TV Squad's Twitter feed. (You can score a free TV Squad t-shirt if you're in San Diego by finding me via our Twitter feed.) I'll also be posting photos on Flickr and wrapping-up each day with as many posts as I can churn out to keep you, gentle viewers, informed.
Not much TV-related happened at Preview Night unless you count the Cabbage Patch-style rush for Smallville swag bags at the Warner Bros. booth or the mob scene at the Heroes booth for the rumored appearance of Tim Sale, the comic book artist whose work appears on the show. There were some impressive displays from the SciFi Channel, whose booth is clearly hosting the rave later this evening, and the Warner Bros. booth, which featured Speed Racer's Mach 5 in anticipation of the Wachowski Brothers' film. I picked up the promotional comic for ABC's new series Pushing Daisies, which I'll be writing more about this weekend. (Here's a preview: Pilot great. Comic not so great.)
The panels begin tomorrow. I'm looking forward to bringing you all the pop culture goods as they happen. It will be almost like being here without the body odor and Convention Center food stuffs. Until then, in the words of Stan Lee, "Excelsior!"
