The Daily Show: July 25, 2007
Senior White House Correspondent Rob Riggle elaborated on the situation. I wonder what Rob did right after the snarling bit. He dropped down and I thought he was going to pick something up, but they did an awkward cut back to Jon. Hmm...
"Back in Black": Barry Bonds is still having a bad time with his "alleged" steroid problems. Michael Vick is barely getting through his "alleged" dog-fighting scandal. NBA referee Tim Donaghy has been naughty. "Allegedly". Looks like there's not much new in the sports world.
The night's guest was Rob Gifford, author of China Road: A Journey into the Future of a Rising Power. Of course, the topic of discussion was China and the future of the country. I had a nice chuckle at Jon's remark about the Chinese overlords because, well, from what I've gathered from my own observations of Chinese people around me and the Chinese media, they're quite intent on pushing their economy above and beyond. So even though the peace-promoting Chinese may not control the world through war, they certainly want to do it economically. Ambitious, they (uh... we?) are. Anyway... Ahem. Gifford was a good guest and rolled well with Jon's jokes, especially when he made the comment about China's 2008 Olympics/coming out party. His story about his improvised preaching was also quite fun.
Jon/Stephen: Stephen Colbert apologized for the other night's fit of giggles. Moment of Zen: Mr. Arlen Specter was not too happy with Alberto Gonzalez.
