Porter and Aukerman developing comedy series for FOX late night

by Adam Finley, posted Aug 1st 2007 7:01PM

aukermanB.J. Porter and Scott Aukerman of Mr. Show and the weekly Comedy Death Ray showcase in Los Angeles are developing a new late night comedy series for FOX. The new sketch comedy series, according to Aukerman, is based somewhat on the Comedy Death Ray shows and is called The Right Now! Show.

Comedy Death Ray features a lot of "alternative" comedians, and both Aukerman and Porter describe the series as having very much the same sensibility. Some of the folks lined up to appear on the new series include Maria Bamford (Comedians of Comedy), James Adomian (Late Late Show, Onion Radio News), Ian Edwards (Punk'd), Paul Rust (a performer at UCB and a writer for Moral Orel and Human Giant), Casey Wilson (UCB performer), Natasha Leggero (Premium Blend, Reno 911!) and stand-up comic Mike O'Connell.

The one-hour series will include sketches, cartoons, video pieces, and pretty much anything else than can be shown on a TV screen. Comedian Zach Galifianakis is also involved with the pilot. Rust will also write for the show, along with comedy writers Dave Anthony, Brett Gelman, Jon Daly and others.

This new sketch comedy series should pop up in early 2008. I'll keep you posted as things develop.

Thanks to A Special Thing.

Comedy Death Ray is a weekly show. Tuesdays at the UCB theater in Hollywood. Not an annual showcase.
