Some stuff to watch while you wait for the new seasons to begin
September is that magical month we TV fanatics have been waiting for, when all our favorite shows return and new shows try to find a place in our hearts and our DVRs.
However, don't spend your August reading books and spending time with loved ones, because there are a few shows popping up this month you may want to check out. Someone spent a lot of time building that TV set, so the least you can do is sit around and watch whatever is on. Here's a few things:

August 1 (today): The Nine returns to ABC at 10:00 p.m. to finish off those six unaired episodes

August 4: ABC has the first episode of Masters of Science Fiction. See the rest of the schedule here

August 5: Killer Wave crashes onto ION

August 7: Dennis Miller hosts Grand Slam on GSN, a game show that pits winners of other game shows (such as Jeopardy champ Ken Jennings) against one another

August 8: Hotel Babylon hits BBC America at 9:00 p.m. Also, Explorer kicks off a new season on the National Geographic Channel

August 10: Flash Gordon premieres on SciFi at 9:00 p.m.

August 12: Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav (10:00 p.m.), and new episodes of Robot Chicken on Adult Swim (11:30 p.m.)

August 13: Weeds returns for its third season, and David Ducohvny's new series, Californication, also premieres (both on Showtime). Also, the 38th season of Sesame Street begins.

August 17: High School Musical 2 premieres on Disney Channel at 8:00 p.m.

August 21: Anchorwoman, the already-controversial reality/comedy/whatever program about a former swimsuit model who becomes the anchorperson for a TV station in Tyler, Texas, kicks off at 8:00 p.m. Also, CNN's three-part series on religious fundamentalism begins at 9:00 p.m.

August 25: At 9:00 p.m., Lifetime has The Murder of Princess Diana, a miniseries based on the book by Noel Botham. The TV movie continues August 26 and 27

August 26: Frisky Dingo returns to Adult Swim at midnight

August 29: Pantry Raid, a new series on Style in which Michael Schulson whips up meals using only the limited amount of food found in a person's home, debuts at 9:00 p.m.
