Big Brother 8 bans banner planes

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Aug 6th 2007 7:40PM
Jessica looking for banner planesDuring the first two seasons of Big Brother, banner planes hired by fans were the way to go. I recall various websites gathering five dollars from their forum members to hire them. Flying banner planes with cryptic and not-so-cryptic messages to the houseguests was tolerated by the producers of the show until it got out of hand in the second season.

They clamped down on the planes because the houseguests aren't supposed to have any contact with the outside world. The producers also stopped the Megaphone Lady from the first season.

Now it's deja vu all over again. TMZ is reporting that that a local pilot has been the recipient of a cease and desist letter from Endemol USA in regard to stopping a plane which would have outed Eric as America's Player. In the article, there was no mention of the plane which flew over the Head of Household competition. On a personal note, I still find that odd as the show has scouts looking for the planes and hustling the cast inside before they can read the banners. Yet, the banner plane was seen during the competitions and the live feeds were mysteriously blocked for over an hour.

I am a new viewer to Big Brother and I am really enjoying the show. At the end of the banner did it say LCN or LNC? Anyway, what does that mean?

I think CBS should be at some blame for not watching for the planes. Eric should not be voted OUT because someone was being an *(&%^%$ and outed him. He's playing the game the way america is telling him. I wish they would get rid of the LOSER DICK. I CAN'T STAND THAT GUY! If Eric doest get voted out, I hope he wins the next HOH and puts Danielle and DICK up for eviction.

Freedom of speech =/= messing up a game

By your logic you can go onto the field during a football game and tackle whoever has the ball because it's freedom of expression.

Nothing like restricting freedom of speech. Fly the darn plane, they don't control the airspace.

Why don't CBS just put some sort of retractable roof (could be some sort of lightweight canvas) that they could extend whenever a plane is comming... ? It shouldn't be that hard to do since the thing wouldn't be out that long and doesn't have to withstand snow and stuff.

I think that if Eric gets kicked out this week, he should track down the company that flew the banner over and the people that paid for the banner and sue them for an amount equal to the grand prize. If he gets kicked out, it is a direct result of that banner. Hitting their wallets would put an end to the banners.

Lucyfan, do you watch the live feeds or keep updated on them at all? What they show on the edited show is not what really happens. He blew up at Dick because he knew Dick was talking behind his back and point him out behind his back.

I agree about Amber getting the boot soon. I'm sick of her and Dick. I loved Dick in the beginning because he seemed to be the kind of guy I would relate to in the house (being a punk rock type guy) but now I hate him. Amber cries for no reason and it's just stupid. Kail and Jen have gotten on my nerves but not much. I don't care about Zach, Danielle, or Jameka. I like Dustin, Eric, and Jessica. That's pretty much where I stand on the houseguests.

Eric needs to learn the art of keeping his cool. He's done nothing but explode at people for no reason since the plane flew over. He attacked Jen during the HoH competition, he blew up at Dick when Dick was only saying there was a leak in the group but didn't point fingers, and his ears got really red when Jessica blabbed to him about Daniele and Dick's plan. Just the look on his face says "I'M LYING PEOPLE" and if they can't read that, then they're all a bunch of morons! Granted, he's only lying because he has to but he's still not downplaying the message. Amber, on the other hand, should just burst into flames for saying she physically cannot lie - after she lied to Nick's face in the exercise room then cried when he was evicted. You can't cry if you vote someone out! She needs to go on the block soon!

You can get live feeds on a mac, I use a mac book, and I get the feeds just fine.
Poor Eric, taking the heat....

Eric could have easily explained away the banner by saying that he did indeed lie. He lied to Nick saying he was going to keep him. Amber could have done the same. Since the banner also said "We love Nick", most houseguests would have written it off as being pissed at Eric lying to Nick.
