Bell and Stormare to join Lost?
ABC's hit show Lost may only return in February 2008 but that doesn't mean they will start shooting episodes later than usual. The show is currently casting for the roles of two new recurring characters that may end up to be regulars. One role is female and the other is male (more about those after the jump since it involves spoilers). Casting rumors are flying all over the Internet but two actors mentioned seem to be the most serious contenders: Prison Break's Peter Stormare and Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell.

In his latest Ask Ausiello column, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello reports that Kristen Bell has been approached to play the role of Charlotte. The character is described as followed in casting notices: late 20s, attractive in a naturalistic and athletic way, precocious, loquacious, and funny. Charlotte is also said to repress her emotions and a hard shell to crack. The character will be introduced in the second episode of Season 4. Bell seems to be fitting this character description and she would surely bring a new following to Lost since her Veronica Mars fans would surely check her out if she gets the role of Charlotte. If she gets the Lost role, it doesn't mean that she'll quit her Gossip Girl duties since she is narrating on that show; she could record her narration from Hawaii!
As for Stormare, the Lost Spoilers blog reports that the ex-Prison Break actor admitted to a Swedish media that he was offered a role on the show and has yet to decide. It looks like the role is that of mathematician Russell who is said to have tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields per what casting notices reveal. It is also revealed that Russell is too direct and not very good at making friends. He is also interested in magic and mystery even if he is a science man at heart. Russell will be introduced in the premiere.
Confirmation on who lands these two roles should be given near the end of the month since shooting of the new season starts around August 15.
Edited to add: As commenter Rebecca says below, Entertainment Weekly says that, contrary to what Stormare supposedly said in interview, he was not approached for the role at this point.
