Big Brother 8: PoV Competition #5

(S08E15) I'm done with Dick Denato. I used to find his abrasive manner to be appealing because he brought a refreshing level of truthfulness and candor to a reality television show dependent on acts of lies and deception. It was a bold strategy that I respected and it really seemed to be working for him.
Unfortunately, after his actions in the last few episodes, I've finally come to realize that the way Dick is playing Big Brother isn't some well conceived strategy. Simply put, Dick is an asshole. It's the only way he knows how to be it's the only attribute he knows how to emote.
If he was in a role-playing game he wouldn't gain "experience," "intelligence", "strength," or "agility" points. He would only gain "asshole" points and he'd be a level 1 Billion.
I think it was completely disingenuous of him to call a truce with Jen (and seemingly with Kail). It's absolutely self-serving and terribly hypocritical considering the horrendous things he's said and done to the pair of them.
He's been lashing out against the both of them regarding their only doing things in their best interest, yet he ended up doing the exact same thing when it suited his needs.
He struts around like he's upfront with everyone and that their are no secrets, but he creeps around the house and conspires just like the rest of the contestants. He just thinks he is so much better than everyone and it's really starting to drain on me.
I cannot wait until Dick leaves the game. That's all the time I'll devote to that in tonight's reviewcap.
Power of Veto Competition - The Numbers Don't Lie
Daniele pulled Zach's ball, Jen pulled Dustin, and Kail selected Jameka to participate in the PoV tonight. Daneile also picked the human Weeping Willow to be the judge.
Tonight's challenge did not seem like much fun for the contestants. Behind a board there were six tasks, most of which were things a house guest wouldn't want to do. The person who bid the highest number as it related to the task had to complete the task but got to stay in the game, while the person who bid the lowest was eliminated .
It played out like this:
- Show me the Bunny - Over the next five days how many hours are you willing to spend in a bunny suit?
- Dump the Funk - Over the next 24 hours how many times are you willing to have a funky mixture dumped over your head? [Note: The mixture looked like a combination of fecal matter and Amber's tears (they had to something with all of them). Not an appealing concoction by a long ways.]
- $10,000 Cash - The person who writes down the highest number from $1 to $10,000 wins the money they write down - however they are eliminated.
- Sloppy Summer - Over the next 30 days, how many hours are you willing to eat nothing but slop?
- Power Shortage - Out of the next 5 HoH competitions how many are you willing to not participate in?
- Money walks. The Big Brother grand prize is $500K How much of the prize money up to $250K would you be willing to give up to win the Power of Veto?
Jen put up the full $250K citing the fact that she's at the house for the experience and not for the money, and ultimately won the Power of Veto.
With the exception of Jen who actually had something to show for it, everyone who stayed in the PoV competition for any length of time was royally screwed. The things they have to give up or do - namely missing out on 5 HoH competitions, could be a huge hindrance to their further advancement in the game.

Case in point, Jameka had a major meltdown immediately after the competition where she had a heartfelt, but admittedly strange conversation with God.
This led to a comical sequence where the always fashion conscious Jen barges into the scene and says, "Uh, can we we get white belts in here?"

Then she said, "Now I'll hide the eggs." You've got to love Jen.
As mentioned Dick offered a truce to Jen so long as she promised to be nicer to Daniele.
While it's obviously a case of Daniele and Dick needing an ally in the house as the stakes get bigger, Jen seems eager to join their alliance since she's pretty much been a lone wolf the entire game.
She also states that, "Strategically it will be good to work with Dick and Daniele, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to do it morally."
The Player America Keeps Screwing Over
Tonight, America got to choose who Eric would promise to take to the final two. America wisely selected Jessica which Eric seemed relieved about.
Next, America will vote on which house guest Eric should flatter incessantly in order to ensure his safety in the house.
Judging by the poll a few posts back a majority of you seem to like Dick, but think he needs to tone things down a bit. I'm sad to report, he failed to comply.

Dick absolutely went off on Eric in the courtyard tonight while his shocked alliance looked on in the background. The lashing was so bad it prompted Dustin to ask Daniele if she had considered putting Dick up on the block when and if Jen took herself off.
Daniele all but scoffed at the suggestion and seemed repulsed that Dustin had the audacity to even contemplate the idea.
She is under the delusion that the house guests are able to separate the actions of her father from her actions and she is sadly mistaken. In the coming weeks she's going to be forced to sever the ties with her father much like she was forced to sever her relationship with Nick. If she fails to do this, I guarantee she's going to find herself giving an exit interview to the Chenbot.
Power of Veto Ceremony
Jen took herself off the block and Daniele put Eric on the block in memory of Nick.
Thursday we'll find out if Kail or Eric is going home.
