Big Brother 8: Nomination Ceremony #6

(S08E17) The stress level was so high in the first 30 minutes of tonight's show that I could physically feel an ulcer forming in the lining of my stomach.
I'm all for conflict in Big Brother. In fact, I probably wouldn't even watch this show if it didn't exist, but we're 16 episodes into the season and I've about hit my saturation point.
Sure, Dick has a tendency to be spot on with his comments while he's belittling the likes of Dustin, Amber, and Eric, but it doesn't make it any less uncomfortable to watch or any less trying on the mind.
I don't think I can stomach typing out the first 30 minutes of the show in paragraph format, so I'll hit on some of the hilights of the affair in bullet format. Before reading this, I recommend you go down a bottle of Pepcid AC.
- Dick is pretty convinced he'll be leaving so he's adopted a "I'm going to do as much damage as I can do in this place before I leave."
- Jameka starts in on Dick and Dustin told Jameka to "freak it girl."
- Evel told Dustin to shut up. Dustin told ED to never tell him what to do or to shut up ever again. Evel told Dustin to "shut up."
- Dick said, "Isn't it funny how I can be more honest than the people reading the Bible in the house." Low blow. One point deducted for the Evel one.
- Jameka brought the potty mouth while defending herself.
- Dick called Jameka a "hypocrite."
- Dick and Jameka had a clapping contest.
- Amber busted in and mentioned that Dick wanted to get rid of Nick so that he could get close to his daughter.
- Dick admitted to having wanted Nick gone, but said he was the first to admit he made a mistake.
- This is exhausting.
- Dustin got in Dicks face and quickly retreated.
- Jameka dropped some more f-bombs and Dick brought up the fact that God probably didn't appreciate that kind of language.
- Dick said the phrase "the magical ping pong ball." This cracked me up.
- Dick called Jameka a hypocrite. Jameka's response was, "Your mama!"
- Jameka said she's done with Dick.
- Hates thinking about this.
- Hates that she can't talk without crying.
- Hates the cameras being around all the time.
- Hates that she feels embarrassed about it.
- Hates what she did to Kail.
- Hates her goodbye message to Kail.
- Hates being there.
- Hates all the people in the house.
Next, came another scene where Dick said some more cruel things to Jameka and Amber.

Finally, Zach was the comic relief tonight in an episode that sorely needed some. He seems really loose in the bunny suit and seems to get along a lot better with the house guests while he's in it.
As strange as it may sound, this furry costume was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to him. He'd be wise to just keep on wearing it for the duration of the competition.
Food Competition - Big Brother Benefit Concert

The house was split into two teams:
Big Brother Blues - Zach, Eric, Jameka, Amber
Red House Rockers - Jen, Daniele, Dustin, Dick
Contestants walked into the courtyard and found 200 guitars in the courtyard and two separate stages. Hidden in each guitar was a dollar sign or a slop sign. The first team that found 20 dollar signs in their busted guitars would get to eat like rock stars all week. The losers would be on slop.
Two points of interest came out of the competition.
Amber had spiritual guidance to her dollar signs. I thought it was against the rules to have contact with anyone outside of the house? I propose Amber be disqualified.
Secondly, Dick won the slop pass. He wanted to give it to Daniele but she persuaded him to give it to Jen because she'd been on slop for the last two weeks. I thought this was a wise play on Daniele's part to solidify her new alliance with Jen.
America's Player

I've been wondering something for a while now. Do the other house guests make an active effort to ensure Eric doesn't consume any food after midnight? And what's the hygiene situation like for him? We all know that Gremlins can't get wet in fear mass of replication. Has he not bathed in 41 days?
These are the questions that pass through my mind every time I see him but I digress.
This time around, America was choosing which guest Eric had to try and get nominated. Keeping with their trend of putting Eric in precarious situations, America decided on Dustin.
Right around this point in the show, there was a strange edit that found Dick finishing up a cigarette and then walking quietly into the house.
Without any real reason (best I could tell) Dustin yelled to Dick, "Washed up dead beat white trash dad," then proceeded to say, "I hope he cries himself to sleep for the next six days and walks his ass out of the door." He also mentioned wanting to be the one up for nomination against Dick so it would make it all the more painful for Dick to walk out of the front door.
I'm guessing I missed something here.
Regardless of whatever actually happened, Eric took this as an opportunity to suggest Dustin as an eviction nominee when he talked strategy with Jessica later in the night.
Eric may make funny faces and he may be annoying. He may cuss every other word in the live feeds (so I hear), and he may die if exposed to extremely bright lights. Despite all of these things, he has always been very clever with his methods of doing America's bidding.
The fact that no one even suspects anything is up is a testament to his stellar game play. For this, I can't help but give him credit.
Next episode, America is deciding which house guest should Eric give the silent treatment to. I pray they choose Jessica. I have no clue how he'd make it through that one.
Nomination Ceremony

Jessica pulled Jameka pulled Jen pulled Eric pulled Amber pulled Zach pulled Dustin.
Dick and Daniele are up for eviction. Jessica's rationale for putting up Dick and Daniele stemmed from their efforts to get her biggest ally kicked out of the house last week.
Jessica said that Daniele is her real target this week because she thinks Daniele is a much bigger threat strategically than Dick.
Will Jessica's nominations stick? Tune in Tuesday to find out.
