Hosts for Today Show's fourth hour named; country asks why

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 13th 2007 2:01PM

Ann CurryAre Today Show viewers - even the most loyal Today Show viewers - asking for a fourth hour of the show every single day?

Looks that way. As we reported earlier, NBC is going ahead with their plans for a fourth hour of the morning show, and Broadcasting & Cable is reporting that the hosts have been named: Ann Curry, Natalie Morales, and Hoda Kotb. Giada De Laurentis and Tiki Barber will be correspondents on the show.

I assume that NBC has done some sort of market research that pushes them in this direction, but as a viewer I'm kind of nauseated. Look at all that TV space that's being taken up by having four hours of Today on Monday through Friday (and another two hours each on Saturday and Sunday). Yikes.

I love the additional 4th hour but WOW - I'm so shocked by all the support on here for Ann Curry. I can't stand her and thought most everyone shared this feeling. She fake, overbearing, ALWAYS interupts everyone, tries to 'steal the show' and talks over guests and other hosts, is rude to the other hosts and all around just seems very phony when trying to connect with guests. She is great at hard hitting interviews and her style is better suited for Dateline but she is annoying on a daytime show like Today. I get so annoyed with watching her antics that I have to change the channel when she is on; even when I really want to watch the topic. I just can't stomach her! I want to scream "Shut the he** up!! and let the other hosts talk! My G**, Ann, learn some manners and have some common courtesy!"
Wow- that sure felt good. I'm just shocked to see that she actually has so many supporters. Absolutely Shocked!

Four hours of the Today Show is overkill even though I love Ann Curry.
Bring back Martha at 11.

RE: Those *mindless* shows (ie: Jerry Springer) shouldn't be aired during the day anyway...when small children are at home.

Sorry Lisa, not to offend you but when small children are at home, YOU are the adult so either don't put your TV on those type shows or learn how to use Parental Controls and block the show! Everybody wants the networks to baby sit and raise their children these days! Parents make such a huge fuss about certain material being on the air and for what purpose? Excuse me but when I was growing up, if something came on TV that my parents didn't want me watching, they simply turned the channel or made me turn the TV off and go outside to play, etc! Parents need to stop blaming the networks for what they are putting on TV, accept the responsibility of raising a child hands on and get over it! Please, stop blaming everybody else and do something much more productive such as using Parental Controls!

It couldn't possibly be any duller than "The View" - its competition in that time slot!!!!!
I quit watching "The PEEYOU" after Rosie left...say what you will about her, but watching her spar with Elizabeth Hassleblahblahblah WAS entertaining.
Though a bummer they never actually came to blows!!!

Giada and Natalie Morales together? Wow! All they need to do is bring in Maria Menounos with them and I would be in heaven! Imagine the possibilities...

I agree with you Lisa (#17) 110%! If they couldnt keep Katie then Ann should have replaced her. I liked Merideth on Millionaire but she just doesnt have the bubbly personality that Katie has, and a show with Matt Laur (Blech!) NEEDS all the personality it can get! Al cant do it alone. My vote goes to Ann for hour 4.

I have a suggestion for those who don't want to watch 4 hours of the Today show. Turn the channel!!!!!
Or better yet get a job abd go to work!!
Personally I'd have Ann Curry's baby.

I think that someone should address Ann Curry's problem with anexoria. I have had two friends who have died because of this affliction. When the body does not have any fat to absorb, it starts on the protein of the body, beginning with the organs. Obviously, with Ann they have started with the brain. She acts punchy like a drunk, and is loud and obnoxious. She can't concentrate on anything important, and stutters and looks stupid most of the time. This has been happening ever since she had her hair cut for locks for love. Then she appeared in Cher's outfit for Halloween. Ever since, she has gone downhill. She used to be pretty, but now is starting to look like the pictures of the people in the concentration camps in World War II. Look at pictures of her over a year ago. It is a completely different Ann. I hope they can get her some help before it is too late.

Ohhhhhhh please, enough of those talk shows, court shows, and soaps. Just go back to the days of real-life, and real fantasy programs such as The Partidge Family, The Brady Bunch, Bewitched, Jeannie, and The Munsters (to name a few). They were safe viewing programs and entertaining.
