Star Trek's Uhura joins Heroes

Nichelle NicholsTo boldly go where other Star Trek actors have gone before: Heroes! A few days ago, TrekMovie.com revealed that Nichelle Nichols, who played Uhura in the original Star Trek series, was cast in a recurring role on NBC's hit show Heroes. The actress joins George Takei, Sulu from the original Trek, and Dominic Keating, Malcolm Reed from Enterprise, who are already on Heroes' pay roll (Keating was cast in a recurring role earlier this summer). To add to the Star Trek-Heroes links, Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar, was cast as Spock in the upcoming movie. Slight spoilers after the jump!

TrekMovie.com also revealed that the actress would appear in five or six episodes of the series. TV Guide found out that Nichelle Nichols will play "Nana, the New Orleans-based grandmother of Monica (the new hero being played by The Nine's Dana Davis)."

I met Ms. Nichols several years ago, and was so happy to have the opportunity to thank her personally for being a wonderful role model for women in the late 60's. She is a delightful, intelligent, caring lady. I am so pleased that more generations will have the opportunity to admire her and her work.

it's nice to see ms.nichols in t.v. again. i always thought she was one of the classiest lADIES on t.v.; god bless her and i wish her well.

I met Nichelle Nichols at a supermarket when I was in high school. She was promoting Star Trek VI and a friend and I had skipped 3rd period class to go meet her- we were the first people on the scene and enjoyed a wonderful conversation with Nichelle (Before a massive crowd of fans and media had gathered) - she is truly a wonderful woman and a beautiful person.
