Goodbye Painkiller Jane

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 15th 2007 9:41AM

Painkiller JaneWell, that didn't last long: the Sci-Fi Channel has canceled Painkiller Jane.

The show about a DEA agent with special powers who tracks down others with special powers will finish its first and only season on September 21 (it's still strange to me that a show's season can end in September). That means that the show will have completed 22 episodes total. I predict that fans will be able to buy the show in a "Complete Series" DVD set late this year or early next year.

The show never really had that "buzz" that the Stargate shows and Doctor Who or even Flash Gordon (biggest debut of the year for the network) had, so it's really no surprise that it's not going to see a second season. Sci-Fi also cancelled The Dresden Files a couple of weeks ago.

I watched all the Painkiller Jane's, and Actually liked them.
Maybe, I the only one who actually like them in the usa...LOl
It was the only show I watched on a regular biases.
I had never heard of the orginial comic book series. So What? I thought that the whole idea was one of the few orginial ideas I've seen in a long time. In case you haven't noticed they're going back and remaking almost every old movie series that they can find.

I take exception to the way everyone picks on every show anyone put out there. I'd like to see you guys go out and try to come up with orginail material and try to make it into a series. It cost mega bucks to make one of theses shows and talking the execs into backing a project isn't easy. So they go back and remake old material.
I used to watch a show on history channel and set PKJ to record on tghe repeat overnight and watch it lateer in the week off the DVR.

Well I guess I've said my piece.

I applaud Scifi Channel for letting the series run their course instead of axing them during the first few episodes *cough*Drive*cough* like other networks *cough*FOX*cough*.

Painkiller Jane was merely OK, but I absolutely agree that it was insane that they gave it a 22 episode first season, and for that reason alone I wanted to to tank. I really think no show should get more than 13 episodes its first season, but every episode that is shot should be aired. Dresden Files got much better through the course of the season, and it is such a shame that it got canned.

Adios, Painkiller Jane.

I watched the first three episodes, just to see if this show had a prayer of a chance to improve.

I started to run out of Excedrin due to the headaches that Jane induced.

I'll watch the next two episodes of Flash Gordon, to see if that series improves.

But I'm not holding my breath.

I'm sorry if this is off-topic, but was Dresden officially cancelled by Sci-Fi?

Was there a confirmation somewhere? Thanks.

The show wasn't great, but it was something new to watch during the summer. At least SciFi gave us a full season then canceled. Unlike some other network that gives you 3 episodes then cancel it (Drive).

Good. Both shows were horrificly bad. As a matter of fact, so is Flash Gordon. Bring back BSG already!
