Big Brother 8: Live Eviction #6 and HoH Competition #7

Chen gives her monologue.

(S08E19) "Never before has one house guest gone as far to protect another house guest." - Chenbot

How true, how true. If Evel isn't back in good graces with Daniele after this, he should just wash his hands of her completely, sell any bad photos of her he has to the first tabloid that calls, and hook up with her best girlfriend. And how appropriate that Dick potentially gave up his chance at $500K when it appeared to be money that caused their falling out in the first place.

This is probably one of the best turn of events in Big Brother history. A father/daughter reunion that goes from bad to okay to now possibly setting the stage to take over the game? Come on!

Would Daniele have done the same thing for her dad? Judging by her reaction later on in the show, it sounds like she wouldn't have. Damn those youngsters and their inability to appreciate what their parents do for them.

Eric ended up smoothing things over with Jessica early on in the show and she trusts him 100% again. We'll see how long that lasts once America gives him some task that truly conflicts with their alliance.

Meanwhile, Zach ended up cooking a gourmet dinner for Jessica, basically telling her that he was her lapdog. Which reminds me, they never showed who Zach ended up taking out for a private dinner in the courtyard many weeks back when he won that privilege. Did anyone catch that in the live feeds?

America's Player - Who is Eric voting out

Hot damn! Best case scenario for the viewing audience. America picked Dustin to be Eric's target, naturally adding to Eric's pressure, but he came through it beautifully.

Dick worked on buttering up Eric, telling him that he, Jessica, Daniele and Eric could "absolutely bury everyone right now." Their consensus was that anything Eric does Jessica is going with him, and anything Dick does Daniele is coming with him. Simple plan.

Eric immediately starts working on Jessica, busting out his smooth, eighth-grade male romance moves. Not sure what Jessica sees in him, but she pretty much swallows anything he gives her. Wtih Jameka out for four HoHs and Amber being "basically just garbage" as Eric put it, he fed Jessica exactly what he needed to push her where he needed. "There's honor amongst thieves," he said and you could actually see the little lights flickering in Jessica's brain.

Spotlight - Joe

Tonight, we got to hear what Joe thought about the way Dustin is playing the game.

Joe speaks on Dustin

Joe finds his relationship to be a mirror image of what occurred in their relationship. He thinks Dustin's gameplay shows how selfish Dustin and illustrates what he said all along. Dustin doesn't care who he steps on to so long as it benefits Dustin.

Joe pretty much nailed Dustin on the cockiness issue, and he's glad everyone in America and in the house is getting to see Dustin's true colors. We also got to see several glimpses into Dustin's arrogant side, my favorite being when he point-blank told Zach that he was never going to look like him even after sweating in his bunny suit. Why Zach didn't point out that this was a good thing is beyond me.

Eviction Ceremony

Dustin didn't put much effort into his speech, and definitely didn't use the "flushing away the turd next to me" speech he said he was going to use last episode. Weak.

Dick said that his only regret was that Carol wasn't there to give him a long, deep kiss and see him out the door. What in the world did that mean? Must have been an inside joke since the other house guests laughed?

Votes played out like this:

Amber voted for Dick because he is El Diablo. She also shouldn't have worn that unflattering skirt. Blech!
Eric embraced America's vote and, of course, picked Dustin.
Jameka voted to evict the Antichrist.
Daniele returned the favor to her dad and voted to evict Dustin.

The Swing Votes:

Zach voted to evict Dustin. This one could have gone either way, but Jessica must have convinced him to vote to keep Dick.
Jen voted to evict Dustin. I feel like she's a lone wolf, but she always manages to work things out in her favor.

Surprise, surprise. The cockiest mother scratcher in the house has once again been voted out. And now, for the best screen cap I've taken all season:

Dustin is shocked!

I could practically see and hear Joe doing little cartwheels in his house and screaming out with pure joy. It was pure idiocy on Dustin's part to practically put himself on the block against Dick. In fact, it was probably one of the most arrogant, cocky things I've ever seen a house guest do. How many times does a pawn have to be voted out before people realize the full risk?

Tonight, America will be voting on who Eric should get nominated for next week's eviction.

Head of Household Competition

Mini Mad Hatter

  • What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
  • There is no little enemy.
  • Three can keep a secret if two are dead.
  • Fish and visitors stink after three days.
  • A stitch in time saves nine.
These are the mysterious lines a little person dressed as the Mad Hatter spouted the day before the HoH competition. Then a whole slew of other oddities took place.

A barber shop quartet sang little a little clue: "Alliances break up if you don't make up you could be going home." Dick found the song most amusing. And a pirate on stilts gave his own cryptic message: "Always drink upstream from the herd."

Daniele squealed with delight as the guests moved inside to discover three rabbits in a cage with an ace of hearts, a five diamonds, and a nine of clubs tied around their necks.

The weirdness ended with a white mime statue giving different random poses. It was extraordinarily confusing but started making sense in the HoH competition.

HoH #7

There was a series of true or false questions regarding characters they encountered:

  • The pirate on stilts said, always drink downstream of the herd. Answer was false. Jen was wrong though she said she didn't chose true.
  • Only two members of the barber shop quartet had red bars on their hats. - True. Dick and Zach were eliminated.
  • The cards around the rabbits were ace of hearts, nine of clubs, and five of diamonds. - True. Eric was eliminated.
  • The mini Mad Hatter ran around the house with seven cards on his hat. Answer was false. Amber was eliminated and Daniele bounced into her daddy's arms like a six-year-old who just won a spelling bee. Hugs were few and far between in the early days, but now they happen on a regular basis. Good for them.

Daniele and Dick hug again.
Who is Daniele going to end up putting on the block? I'm pretty sure Dick is a man of his word, so it's not going to be Eric or Jessica. I think it'll end up being Amber and Jameka and that Amber.

We'll see if I'm right on Sunday.

Pick one contestant you're sure Daniele will put up for eviction.
Jameka400 (41.5%)
Amber419 (43.5%)
Dick12 (1.2%)
Eric63 (6.5%)
Jessica19 (2.0%)
Jen50 (5.2%)

MrTNT-

Eric is most definitely playing Jessica. I think he likes her, but I think he is putting the game first. She has been seen to be easily manipulated as evidenced by Jen casting doubt in her with Dustin. Fortunately for Eric, this worked to his advantage because it didn't take much for him to convincer her to go along with him booting Dustin out.

Then by the grace of God, Dick came to him to appeal to his sense of gameplay to have a secret alliance with him, since Danielle will stick with Dick and Jesse will stick with Eric. Since Eric was voting Dustin out anyway, why not make it look like Dick talked him into it? I don't watch the live feeds, but I am assuming Eric is letting Jessica know that he and Dick have an informal alliance for now.

Ice Daddy-

I don't see where in the rules it states that one is automatically removed from the house for hiding an arrest record. I would think that it would be up to the discretion of the producers. It was quite obvious that Justin was evicted because he actually held a knife to someones throat on camera. The producers had no other choice, because if they let it slide and something happened later on, they would be liable.

Why would something happen 6 years later to Dick? He only poured the iced tea on Jen a couple of weeks ago. Also, pouring of iced tea on someone hardly qualifies as assault, especially since Jen wasn't pressing charges.

Despite all this, where is there evidence in your post that there was a fix? In BB2 Mike was booted halfway through and Krista didn't make it to the end.

Thank you LC for providing that bit of information regarding Julie and Marcellus.

Concerning the Eric/Evil alliance discussion, I have no problem accepting that position. I can certainly see both players playing each other. Accepting that then leads to the conclusion that Eric played Jessica when he turned her against the LNC. I'm assuming you would contend that he did that to ensure her vote to evict Dustin in the event the voting ended in a 3-3 tie. This would off course place Eric at a level of gamesmanship not found in your typical houseguest (and I can accept that proposition also). But what about Jessica? Does she now believe she's in a secret alliance with D & D and Eric, but they don't? Can Evil exploit this effectively? It probably doesn't matter because I believe Zach and Jen have both seen the benefit of backing D & D at this point in time. But Evil is compulsive, to say the least.

Finally, maybe I missed it in your ramblings, Ice, but exactly how is the game rigged and how is it fixed? Are you saying that CBS already has determined who the winner is and the 'voters' are merely repeating scripted statements and voting according to CBS' instructions? If so, you've gotta be kidding.

Professor Ice Daddy

The "game" is rigged and the "fix" in one. Here's why!

Think back to Big Brother 2. Do you remember Mike "Carri" aka Mike Mallin? Do you recall Krista Stegall? Do you remember Justin 'stab you' Stebik? Now, think real hard about a KNIFE INCIDENT. The lights are on now, aren't they boys and girls?

Okay, think back a couple weeks in Big Brother 8. Remember when Doofus Dick 'poured' ice tea on Junky Jenn? Yes you do boys and girls, right?

Well, when Mike "Carri" aka Mike "Mallin" wasn't booted for HIDING his arrest record, while Justin Stebik was immediately removed for "playing" with a knife; and Doofus Dick was NOT even chastised publicly, was he? Six short years later, NOTHING has PUBLICLY happened to Doofus Dick. Why?

The "fix" folks. Doofus Dick and Junky Jenn are on on the "fix", alomng with the crooked producers.

This "game" is more crooked than an NBA ref, a mile of bad road, or the WWE (which is more amusing that BB). Hell, its more crooked than MLB and steroids. But, I digress.

Big Brother 2 house guest Krista Stegall sued CBS seeking damages because, as her lawyer says, CBS “placed all of the house guests, including Krista, in danger” by failing to thoroughly check Justin’s background.

Justin Sebik was expelled from the house when, early on July 11, 2001, in between kissing her, held a knife to Krista’s throat and asked, “Would you get mad if I killed you?” Later, it was discovered that he had an arrest record.

Following her eviction, Krista (who had also lied about her background), said in an interview with the New York Daily News, “I didn’t think of Justin as threatening at all. I honestly don’t even remember him holding a knife to my neck. Maybe I had my eyes closed when he did it. But if he did that, I’m sure he never intended to harm me.” Krista’s suit seeks “damages for negligence on the part of CBS and the producers, pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical bills, mental impairment and loss of enjoyment of life,” the paper reports.

I thought Ivette taking Maggie instead of Janelle was the most idiotic move.

Shannon-

Amber was a blubbering mess as usual, so maybe she didn't hear Julie, but is her daughter 5? I tried finding info on the BB CBS page, but couldn't find it. Maybe Julie goofed on the age. Either that or Amber is more messed up than she looks.

To add to that MrTNT, Julie also whacked Marcellas on the head with an interview book. You are correct, it was the dumbest move and is the litmus test for all dumb moves.

I disagree though on Dick playing Eric though. I don't think Eric fell for it, as I think he is too smart to trust him. I think he felt something good fell into his lap because he was bound by America's vote to boot Dustin, so why not pretend to make it look like he voted him out because of Dick's proposal? He was able to turn a lemon into lemonade.

I believe this was Marcellus' mistake: With 4 remaining houseguests, Marcellus was on the block and won the POV. He could have saved himself but instead believed that his friend Amy wouldn't vote him out. Woops! Amy, who already had screwed another by reneging on a promise screwed Marcellus too and he was evicted. As he left the house he yelled,"Argh" and Julie's first words were classic, "What were you thinking?!" In my opinion, and contrary to Evil's, this was by far the biggest mistake ever made because there was so much at stake at the time.
This season appears to be the season of endless mistakes; one bonehead mistake after another.
If D & D don't backdoor Eric this week, then the mistakes continue. This one's a no-brainer. They know Eric's the liar and they know as long as he's around Jessica is putty in his hand. Evil played him perfectly with that alliance bullshit and now's the time to end his tenure as America's Player. Hasta la vista, baby!

Can tell someone tell me what the infamous Marcellas move was? That was the one summer I was on vacation and didn't have access to TV.

What dumb move did he do?
