Conan moving to Desperate Housewives stage?

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 17th 2007 8:06AM

Conan O'BrienIn a sign that Conan O'Brien may indeed keep The Tonight Show out in California when he takes over for Jay Leno in two years, Hollywood Today is reporting that NBC has taken over Stage One at Universal Studios, where ABC's Desperate Housewives has filmed. The Wisteria Lane girls are now filming at the bigger Stage 41.

Conan's show is in reruns this week, and he's been in Los Angeles and Burbank, talking over the deal to move to California and take over for Leno in 2009.

A spokesperson for NBC says that the studio is going to be torn down and completely renovated, creating a new office space and space for people to watch live television. Many famous shows and movies have filmed there, including The Jack Benny Show, Knight Rider, and Jurassic Park III.

indolent, I see Conan as a guy just trying to have a good time and make everyone laugh. His enthusiasm for what he does is contagious, and I've definitely caught the Conan bug over the past few years. He also has a really nice, gentle interviewing style.

Am I missing something about Conan's humor? It seems that whenever I try watching his show, the majority of it is filled with him making random noises and self deprecation. And when he does happen to have a good joke, it seems like he waits 5 minutes for everyone to stop laughing and has to keep referencing that one joke to get laughs the rest of the show. It just isn't funny at all.

It's weird though... Conan seems very big into respecting late night history and his predecessors. And he loves talking about the history of the studio Late Night currently films in. It'd be weird to have him take over "The Tonight Show" in a studio that filmed "Knight Rider" and "Desperate Housewives".

They're tearing down the Jurassic Park III studio?? NOOOOOO!

Conan has the best late night talk show of the bunch right now, IMHO. It's too bad we have to wait another two years to get rid of Leno and move him into the prime spot.
