Coming to a bar near you: The Reaper drink

Reaper

TV networks come up with a lot of different ways to promote a new show. Print ads, web sites, billboards, promotional clothing and mousepads. And now The CW has another idea: a drink based on the new comedy/supernatural show Reaper.

Of course, it's not just the drink, it's the mega-promotion going along with it. Starting on September 3, the network will have two bars in the top 10 markets for the show not only serving the drink but also showing various clips from the show on their television sets. There will also be someone from the network there to hand out other goodies to the fans/drunks. The promotion will run throughout the month. Full recipe after the jump!

The Reaper

1 oz. sweet vermouth
1/4 oz. dry vermouth
1/2 oz. sloe gin
2 dashes orange bitters

Pour ingredients into an old-fashioned glass two-thirds filled with crushed ice. Stir well, garnish with a slice of orange, and serve. Then sit back and watch the premiere of Reaper on September 25 at 8pm.

Sloe gin is completely different then gin. Sloe Gin is a liqueur. Another example of a liqueur would be Bailey's or Kalua. All in all, not a very strong drink, in fact, incredibly weak, and really not all that appealing.

Wow, talk about marketing blunders. I seriously doubt the CW audience is very much into gin... A vodka or rum drink would have been a much wiser move, young people do not drink gin.

Two kinds of vermouth, sloe gin, and bitters? "The Reaper" is an appropriate name. That drink would make me wish I was dead.
