Janeane Garofalo joins cast of 24

janeane garofaloHere's an interesting casting choice: Janeane Garofalo is joining 24. According to TV Guide, she'll be a regular cast member on the next season. Her character is a government agent who will be investigating Jack Bauer and his CTU co-workers. I can imagine her playing someone Jack (and the rest of the audience) really hates.

This is Garofalo's first return to mainstream television since she her role as Louise Thornton on The West Wing in 2004-2005. She also starred in a dramatic pilot for CBS called Law Dogs, but it has not been picked up by the network.

So, 24 fans, does the news about Janeane get you more excited for the next season? Or, would you rather have a decent plot line this time around rather than celebrity casting?

I have to agree...it's a freakin TV show. Politics may be evident but getting all bent out of shape about Janene joining the cast and turning it into her political soap box sounds like a bunch of 20 something's internet dramatization. I think she will make things pretty darn interesting and I will start watching again. A pinko? Get a grip and lighten up.

Bleehhhh... My only hope is that Janeane Garofalo will piss off Jack enough for him to punch her in the face and kick her in the hoo-ha. Good job FOX, I won't be watching this season due to this casting choice.

This celebrity casting is a gimmick to get people to watch and if this was still a good show it wouldn't need gimmicks. I'd much rather see really good unknown actors cast instead of a parade of "names". I hate what this show has become, all about Jack and a new set of supporting characters that are just there to be killed off each season. Can't have anybody competing with Kiefer for the spotlight, can we? I'm not tempted to watch at all.

I am just hoping for a great story line. I was disappointed in last season.
I would like to encourage FOX to not be intimidated into not using Arab story lines...it is a reality.
Arab actors need work, too.

She is a good actor and will fall for Jack and vice versa. We can expect a lot out of her with the "Govt" look fitting her so well. Lets hope that the plot is more interesting than last year. I, for one, am sick and tired of good looking foreign men always being the bad guys. What? We can't find bad people here in the states?

Liberal PC. Next we'll have Jane Fonda as Secretary of State, Michael Moore as Secretary of Defence....and...Ted Kennedy as...Presidential Limo Driver. Susan Sarandon as U.N. Ambasador...and to be completely PC, we can have George Clooney as the secret lover of the First Husband.
