Big Brother 8: Dustin's exit interview

Big Brother 8's Dustin is shocked at his evictionEvery week AOL's The TV Tattler will have an exit interview with the most recently evicted houseguest from Big Brother 8. Being the fan of the show and its live feeds that I am, I feel the need to not only share a bit of the latest interview, but add in my own two cents as I do!

The shock at his eviction last week on the show was as real as we're ever going to see on reality television. He surely thought he had it all in the bag, didn't he?

Let's see what he had to say in his exit interview ...

Since the America's Player "twist" with Eric is still ongoing, the interviewer wasn't allowed to mention anything to Dustin about that aspect of the show. It's going to be interesting to see how and when that news is revealed to those still playing the game, but that's news of the future. Right now I'm more interested in the past. That is, the World of Dustin's Perspective on the game.

Although Joe was the show applicant and he was recruited, Dustin seems to know enough about the show to realize that usually when the first person is sent to the sequester house on a Thursday, it's usually a double eviction with another arriving on Sunday night. He didn't think he'd have a week alone, but he will. I too was surprised that there wasn't the traditional double eviction, but knowing about the trip undertaken by Amber and Daniele, the timing wouldn't have been right.

After an expected anti-Joe bit, Dustin said it would be a tie over who he doesn't want to see more -- Evel Dick or Joe. He thinks they're both "immature, disrespectful, and very shallow people." While he vehemently denies he gave Joe an STD, he places Evel Dick in the same light as the person who claimed to the world he did so. Hmmm ... maybe it's just me, but I think I'd be more horrified and anti-Joe than against someone who out-schemed me in a reality television game show. Odd ducks they get for these shows, indeed.

I found it interesting that Dustin told the interviewer he thought Eric was ultimately responsible for the votes switching to evict him. He thinks Eric has an alliance with Jen (so far off base), but it's actually the manipulation of the America's Player coming into the game. To me, that brings a bit of a grey area into the picture. While I think Dustin's increasing arrogance would have gotten him evicted before long, had there not been that interference on the behalf of "America," he wouldn't have gone that week and it would be the Evel Dick interview I'd be reading. I certainly want to see their reactions after the twist is revealed.

One of the surprises in the interview is that when Dustin was referring to his girlfriend on the show, he meant an actual girl friend. Yes, he's gay, but she's his best friend from high school days and that's with whom he'll share the vacation he won.

He also implied that he has only one ugly grey v-neck shirt. Eww. He plans to be friends with Amber after the season, but still can't figure Jen out. The whole interview is worth a read, so check it out. But it's still nagging me what his reaction will be when he finds out that Eric switched his vote as part of the twist. What do you think?

Up until Dustin (sequester), if it wasn't revealed on the live show interview, it was revealed on The Early Show interview the next day. Kail was told at that time.

Refresh my memory, but I don't believe the AP scam was reveled to Kail when she left either.

GACK -- I had Dustin on my mind! I meant Eric, of course! After all, he's OUR player, right?

Jackie,
You said the Dustin earns $10,000 for every five tasks completed. Shouldn't it be Eric instead of Dustin?

I thought Eric had a choice on whether to follow "AMERICAS" vote or go for the cash. But from the eviction votes he clearly doesn't have a choice.

I was really sad to see Dustin go and surprised too. I shared his look of disbelief. I wanted Dustin to win just to piss off piss-off Joe. What I didn't want to see is Amber crying AGAIN.

In the beginning of the season (and still up on the CBS website) it was announced that Dustin will earn $10,000 for every five tasks completed. He has no choice with the vote task -- "America's" vote is his vote, but he can try as little or as much as he wants at the others. I believe he's up to $30,000 now. Since he's made it to the sequester point of the game, they probably won't reveal it until the finale.

I'm sure that the America's Player twist will only be revealed to the sequestered players once a) Eric is evicted or b) the jury has cast their vote for a winner. Unless Eric isn't allowed to win (he's supposed to get some cash rewards everytime he completes 3 tasks - although I don't recall Julie saying so on the brodcast...), telling the jury while Eric is still 'in the game' would vaporize his chances of getting any votes should he end up in the final two.
