Whitest Kids U Know move to IFC for season two

whitest kids u knowWell, no wonder I missed this news: it was buried in some Variety article with "R. Kelly" in the title. You might as well slap a "poison" label on a jar of Skippy and expect me to open it. Seriously, people.

Anyway, yes, The Whitest Kids U Know will be heading to IFC for its second season after completing its first season on Fuse, IFC's sister channel. IFC has also acquired rights to the first season of the series. Fans of the series should be happy about this move for two reasons: IFC does not censor anything, and, it's commercial-free. The troupe is currently shooting the second season.

I've been somewhat wishy-washy about this series so far. I've caught a lot of the sketches online (I don't get Fuse on my local cable), and while they're funny, nothing about them really stands out in the way MTV's Human Giant does. Perhaps that's an unfair comparison, but no one said life was fair. Some would argue Templeton the Rat in the animated movie Charlotte's Web said life was a fair, but what he actually said was, "a fair is a veritable smorgasbord."

And that's how you reference an animated film from the '80s in a post about a sketch comedy series that has nothing to do with said film. Thank you.

And thanks to Dominic for the info.

I've seen the complete first season of both shows, and I'd have to say that while they are both great sketch shows, I enjoy WKUK more than Human Giant.

I feel WKUK skits are much more timeless and stand-alone, whereas with Human Giant, a lot of their skits won't be as funny in a few years time when shows like Chris Angel and To Catch A Predator no longer run.

I also think that, for better or for worse, WKUK skits are a lot more quotable, in a Monty Python-ish way.

i really like this show. no more commercials for pants off dance off, finally. never watched human giant or anything else like it. great racial humor and the "lets wake up the neighbors" song actually worked in stopping my downstairs neighbor from playing the same Red Hot Chili Peppers CD every week as loud as possible. For that alone i'll give it another season. I can only listen to Californication at max volume so many times.

Sorry, I really tried to like this show. I sat through multiple epsiodes, but in the end, it was just "That one really smug guy who thinks he's edgy ... and all the other unfunny ones."
