Don't forget! The U.S. Open starts this morning

When a Grand Slam is playing, I'm pretty much defunct for two weeks. I do NOTHING but watch tennis.

Unfortunately I didn't watch a single minute of tennis yesterday on TV.... BUT that's because I was there in person! My first Grand Slam event ever! I saw SO many matches I was having whiplash.

Among the notables I saw were Federer, Henin, Jankovic, Ivanovic, Baghdatis, Andreev, Ferrero, Young, Gasquet, and Haas. I was also there at the same time that both WIlliams sisters were playing (and during the Althea Gibson tribute). Though I wasn't IN the stadium since I only have day session tickets (I was next door at Armstrong Stadium) and could hear a bit.

Anyways, it was such a fun (and exhausting) day. The weather was gorgeous and the atmosphere was amazing.

Also... if you have Direct TV then there's also several bonus channels (690-696) that you can tune to for coverage of some of the other courts. It's great to channel surf matches. It also means MORE tennis.

The US Tennis Open is one of the sports I actually set aside time to watch, aside from pro-football. To those of you who think it's boring, I disagree! When you realize that the pros are serving at over 100 mph and someone is actually hitting it back (Roddick has topped 140) then it becomes much more exciting. Alas, I will miss most of it this year as I'll be on vacation.....

I've got my tivo set for all twelve hours a day (okay, sure, I'll be fast-forwarding a lot when I get home). Tennis is the only sport I watch on tv - the more you watch, the more you realize how much skill is involved and how mental the game is, and how quickly the tide can turn from one player to the other.

Sounds like Bob S. may be a 4.5 or 5.0 rated player?

How can one not enjoy watching Federer prove that he is one of (if not the greatest) of all time!

don't forget that HD coverage is available at the same times on universal HD. tennis, like drying paint, is insanely watchable when presented in hi-def.

Tennis is the worst sport to watch on TV, closely followed by NASCAR.

I have respect and all for the sport, but its number two on my boring sports list under golf. I would play both of them physically, but watching it is like staring at the ground. But hey if that's what you fancy then more power to you.

No 'Psych', no 'Monk', no 'Burn Notice', no '400', no 'Dead Zone'......

Tennis. Feh!
