Press Kits Unwrapped: FOX's Nashville - VIDEO

by Keith McDuffee, posted Sep 11th 2007 2:01PM
nashville press kitThe press kits have just begun rolling in, and for the most part the networks haven't gotten nearly as fancy with the packaging as they did last season. FOX had a reputation for going way out of their way to make their packaging stand out, but the first couple of screeners sent (Prison Break, for example) didn't have much more than the DVD. With the first new-show screener, Nashville, they're back to their old ways.

As you can see from the first picture above, the box everything came in was shaped like a mini amplifier. It even has a little plastic handle on top, just like a real, portable amp. Cute!

Inside this particular kit was a set of drumsticks, which actually has nothing to do with Nashville, as it has "The Next Great American Band" all over them. Though I have to imagine there's still drumming going on on Nashville, or else, man, everyone would be totally out of rhythm.

I guess there are a lot of TV media folks who have a set of drums and will open this kit with the excitement of a kid on Christmas. Well, unless that kid was me and I was ten-years-old, when I wanted a set of drums and all I got was a bucket and some twigs.

That thing that looks like a little 45 record (remember those? Anyone?) is actually a squished up t-shirt, as you can see in the next picture. It's medium-sized and made of that stretchy material that, as far as I know, only girls wear. But if any of you ladies would like to see this stretched across a 225-pound man's hairy torso, you're out of luck -- I already ripped it trying it on and am now using it as a bandanna while I pound away on my bucket with my rad new drumsticks. Rawk!

(Oh, and if you're interested in catching the first, full episode, you can check it out below until Sept. 13.)

:( I guess I am too late.... I heard that I could see the first episode online, but I guess the suspense will have to build a little bit longer until I can see it tonight!
