Spoilers about the Sex and the City movie

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Sep 11th 2007 8:00AM
Sex and the CityEven though I never was much a fan of Sex and the City (I watched a few episodes here and there including the finale), I know how much the series meant to many TV fans and that a lot of people are looking forward to the movie. Richard reported about a month ago that Mr. Big would appear in the movie alongside the four ladies but, other than that, not much had been leaked about the movie.

Since the announcement that SatC was heading to the big screen was made, I've been poking my spoilers sources for gossip about the movie. Today, they delivered.

Spoilers ahead!

Sadly, the spoilers I was sent seem to be coming from casting calls, meaning they do not reveal the main storylines. Nonetheless, it's something to chew on while we wait for juicier gossip.

  • Carrie hires a new assistant named Louise. She is described as a fashionable and sharp African-American woman in her early 20s, who moved from St. Louis to NYC in order to find love. The movie will also feature her ex-boyfriend Will.
  • Carrie will interact with Elaine, a gossip columnist in her early 40s working at the New York Post.
  • We will meet Karl, a sarcastic businessman in his late 40s who is also Big's friend.
  • One of the important roles will be that of Dante, a hot and dark man in his 30s.
  • Some scenes will feature Lovro Klujcik, the super of an apartment building; a real-estate agent and her assistant; an angry activist woman who is against killing animals for their fur; and a marriage counselor.
  • The events in the movie will take place at least over a few months since a scene is set during Halloween and another, during Valentine's Day.
One interesting tidbit is that they are looking for four women, one being a redhead, aged between 18 and 25-years-old and are said to be "the essence of our four girls." Are they related to the four ladies? Or maybe they just represent a new generation of women like the ladies?

What would you like to see happen in the movie? Do you want Carrie and Big to be living together and be happy? Do you want Sam to still be dating a new man every week? Post your ideas below.

Edited to add: The L.A. Times is now reporting that Jennifer Hudson will play Louise, Carrie's new assistant.

I think that its great that the movie will be out 2008.
I do love the girls when im home or sick watching the show makes everything better.
As to Chris Noth aka Mr.Big I met him at orgins club what a d*ck. He was so cocky that seeing him was very disapointing, you can say after that I drank myself to death. Yes I did take pictures and he did signed my
Sex and the city book that I got when I went on tour to The Pleasure Chest. All I have to say how Mr.big was on the show he is completely like that in real life!!! I heard that Chris Noth is sick of the women refering him as Mr. BIG. He wants to be know from Law and order and other movies that he has filmed, F**k Law and order. He wouldnt be this popular if it wasnt for Sex and the city...... FU BIG!
For the girls, are very sweet I met them in NYC while they were filming....
Still I cant wait for the Sex and the city movie come!!!!!

I can not wait for the movie to come out. I think no matter what it is going to be awesome because these people already made us six amazing series. What would also be really cool would be if these supposable "4 girls" were used to bring in 4 new girls to be our sex and the city ladies. If they were maybe deciding to start a new sex and the city with 4 fresh new young girls that are actually in their 20's? Maybe they could relate these girls as maybe younger relatives of the SatC ladies that all meet up in this movie and become best friends. Then maybe we will have some new series and something new and amazing to watch. What ever it is I can't wait to see it!!!

I just really hope they don't split Carrie and Big up. I really want them to live happily ever after. They did shoot an ending to the series that had the possibility of them not together.

I am soo excited about this new film. One thing is for sure... I am definitely rooting for Samantha and her "Ultimate Hunk" to stay together. Carrie and Big are obvious matches, and I love it. I have been praying for them since the begining! I think that there needs to be two weddings taking place in this "fabulous" new movie. Sam and Smith; Carrie and Big. This film is supposed to tie up the series... and I think that tying the knot would be a perfect way to do this!

I really don't think Hudson's going to have much to do except the stereotypical black girl stuff. Surprising she even agreed to play this part. Most people go from winning Supporting Actress to lead roles. This seems like a step down from Effie for her.

While it is crucial that "our girls" remain the center of this new film, their men and the city will always be important. Apparently a wedding is in the offing for SJP/Big......but I see a rocky road leading up to that, or possibly real trouble once married. As for the four younger girls being proposed, I have always wondered how "our girls"got together in the first place. So that could add a useful dimension to the story. I do hope the creative team will bring ideas which are fresh and new, while maintaining a believable connection to the past history of the show. I can barely wait to see this film!!!! Also, to add to the hype of the movie I suggest a nation-wide/international contest which will (no doubt) be entered by every hip female who ever saw the show!

I think that Carrie (SJP) is one of the homliest women I have ever seen. I don't know how she became such a big star? Her and handsome Mr. Big together is a little unbelievable

If anyone wishes to drop by a scene shoot in NYC on Monday or Tuesday October 15 or 16 , 2007. There is a scene being shot at 360 Adams St Brooklyn NY. Its the Supreme Court building and its open to the public at 8AM. I am certain glimpses of the cast can be had possibly an autograph.

If Carrie and Big are not happily together, it would make the entire series and finale a lie and be utterly disappointing. The audience would feel deceived and violated. Their soul-mate status is the heart and the foursome friendship is the soul of the series and the movie. I agree that too many new characters would just be filler and a distraction. The four main characters, their men, their family/friends/children and their relationship with each other should provide plenty of material for a creative writing team.

Why did they decide to make this movie? I LOVED the show, but it seems to me that this is going to become a "Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda" reunion. The show was great, but already they're adding too many new people to the mix. Leave it alone.
