Eureka: God is in The Details

Allison turns into a 'human glowstick' after taking a shower
(S02E10) The sheer number of flashback scenes made me wonder just what major even was going to happen. Considering the roll up, I thought it would be a bit more climactic than Kevin showing off some sort of new powers.

The opening tattoo discussion struck me as out of place, but it got things rolling. I suspect that Zoe just asks her dad about these things just so he can have a few more victories. Later, when he sees her tattoo I was surprised that we didn't see more about it. Considering that it was Carter, I'd have thought that he'd pay a visit to the local Tattoo parlor for a little... discussion.

Jo's date was an interesting twist. I'm not sure if they're trying to make up for Matt Frewer's absence, but things will be interesting if he re-appears on the show later in the season. One thing's for sure, she looks fantastic when she lets her hair down.

After the date night on the previous show, I'm a bit surprised that we didn't see any sign of the dry cleaner girlfriend. There's still a definite disconnect between Allison and Carter, but her comment about seeing Carter distressed seems like a hint that something could happen in the future. Aside from the fact that we've been seeing quite a bit of Nathan professing his love lately. But I couldn't help but notice that Allison didn't return the sentiment.

The symptoms of this weeks problem are a bit interesting. If only all the girls in my house would lose their voices for a day. (I've got two rather vocal little girls, not to mention their mother...) Allison glowing like a firefly was a fun twist. (Speaking of whom, what's up with her lame wardrobe these days?)

Kevin's apparent powers are an interesting twist - I'm guessing that he'll be key to the season finale - but I found Carter's flashback even more interesting. It was a little odd that Henry didn't remember loaning Carter the book. Was he faking? It was after Henry'd erased Carter's memory! Perhaps the explosion from the device shutdown affected Henry's mind? I doubt it.

[annoying shrill] I found the episode most ESPECIALLY about the religion to have been a very POOR episode and was really disappointed.

You might have some silence from your wife if she reads this review (ahem).
What did you think about the religion stuff in this episode? I thought it was a little over the top for a science show. I'm not into organized religion although I find the recent crop of militant atheists who are screaming either/or about science or religion annoying shrill. But I found last nights ending with everyone in church really hamfisted. I could see Carter there that one time (as he made clear) as an apology for his false accusation. But what seemed to be the whole town too all of a sudden? That was a bit much, as was the whole town of scientists running to church when things started to get scary around town.
Jo looked fantastic! But I can see why she was turned off when her date (forgot the name) made the comments belittling her practical skills and talking up his theoretical ones. He seemed to be putting her in her place, which are not very good first date skills. That she took it as her not being good enough for him rather than she might be in for a relationship with a pompous jerk was sad. Actually I had an aunt who married a scientist who was superior and overbearing about his intelligence and she became a evangelical Christian. Then she had something to be superior about too. But Jo has her marksmanship and other skills so maybe she won't have to go that far if she hooks up with that guy.

Will - I think it was Larry, Fargo's nemesis, who was asking whether Eureka was on a Hellmouth.

I am surprised that they made Jo's date such a flop when he obviously knows how to charm her considering his into episode.

I like who they left it up to the viewer to decide if the cure was Kevin or the machine being shut off.

I was distracted a lot during this episode (new puppy), so I'm going to watch it again.

The girls losing their voices reminded me of the Buffy episode called "Hush". Then Jo's date (I can't remember his name) wondered if Eureka had been built on a hellmouth. Right when he said that it looked like one of those creepy looking guys from "Hush" walked by in the background. It was probably my imagination because Buffy was on my mind, but I'll be looking for it when I watch the episode again.
