Keith Olbermann has emergency surgery

by Bob Sassone, posted Sep 17th 2007 1:24PM

Keith OlbermannKeith Olbermann was rushed into surgery Friday night to remove his appendix.

Olbermann missed his appearance on NBC's Football Night in America (not sure if the other hosts mentioned it or not because I'd rather watch Britney at the VMAs over and over again than watch a football game pre-show) and will also miss at least the first two nights of MSNBC's Countdown, tonight and tomorrow. His seat will be filled by Alison Stewart, though it's unclear right now if she'll continue the rest of the week if Olbermann needs more time to rest.

A spokesman for MSNBC says that Olbermann is "doing fine."

At least they could find his right away, since you take it out on the left side.

Keith, Just be thankful that government health care is not in place yet. You would still be waiting for them to call your number and finding a doctor that was the lowest bidder.

I just cannot wait for Keith to come back and tell us who he thinks is "The Worst Person In The World." I'm also curious: do you think Bill O'Reilly sent him a "Get Well" card--lol! Hope you're on the mend, Keith. We miss you.

When someone told me Keith had a little 2 inch, infected hunk of crap cut out of him, I immediately thought "This is the one guy who could get a lobotomy, and have absolutely no one notice a difference." Then I was informed it wasn't his brain that was removed, so I assumed castration, but alas I was wrong again (probably couldn't cut 2 inches off anyways). :(
But at least I can watch SNF for a little bit!

You're right, NO ONE can replace Keith whats-his-name on MS-WHATEVER cable network!!! It takes a very special kind of jack*ss to talk to yourself out of your mouth and ass at the same time!!! and get a 0.3 rating at the same time!!!!

First off, my best wishes to Keith. Appendicitis is different in every person, requiring as little as laparoscopic surgery or as much as several weeks of treatment for peritoneal (abdomenal cavity) infection in the case of complication or rupture of the appendix.

Secondly, not everyone knows that Keith started off in the sports world (ESPN) and has maintained radio and other connections to sports broadcasting even as he speaks truth to power on MSNBC. NO ONE can replace Keith, and I hope he returns soon. It's just not the same without him.

Good Luck and Speedy Recovery Keith. Hurry and get back to your desk. I may disagree with you on a few things, for the most part, I feel exactly as you, about the war, this administration, and politics in general. It is refreshing to listen to you rant about the injustices, which unfortunately, not many people who can reach the masses do. The worse part is much of the "masses" just doesn't care, at least not yet. Give then another year or so, and they will be the ones screeching the loudest!
