Gummi Bears: The Movie - VIDEO

by Paul Goebel, posted Sep 18th 2007 9:37AM

The Gummi BearsOnce again, the gang at CollegeHumor.com have given us a blast from the past.

Remember Disney's adorable Gummi Bears? Well, in this retelling of the legend the bears are anything but adorable. The fake trailer is for a live action movie that tells the story of how evil forces within the government seek to destroy the Gummi Bears and learn the secrets of the Gummi Berry juice.

I have to warn you, this video will bring back some memories of the cartoon for those of you who watched it, especially the dead-on costumes of the ogres.

Even though, the video is clearly a low-budget production, I couldn't help admiring the effect of the Bears bouncing into action. If I have any criticism of the short, it would be the ending shot. I mean, shouldn't the two enemies be bouncing into each other like some cheesy kung-fu movie?

"I remember hearing a accapella version of the theme song (which I think was Rockapella), and loved it. I wish I knew where I could find it."

That's awesome! It's actually by the Brown Derbies.

I sing the Gummi Bears theme a lot of times at random and my wife looks at me like I've lost my mind. Glad to know I'm not the only one who remembers the show and the song.

That wasn't funny at all.

Let me rephrase that: it was as funny as the Emmys on Fox were.

I would definitely rent it. Looks better than some of the other junk that is out right.
