Monday ratings: Heroes and Dancing soar, Journeyman stumbles

by Bob Sassone, posted Sep 25th 2007 2:02PM

Dancing logoWell, the first big Monday night ratings battle is over, and the outcomes is really no surprise to anyone, though some of the specific numbers are interesting.

ABC won the night overall with their premieres of Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor. Heroes did really well too, up 10% from the same period last season. Journeyman must be a bit of a letdown for NBC, considering the Heroes lead-in. Ratings were down 26% from the Studio 60 premiere last season.

CBS came in third for the night, with it's lineup of How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Rules of Engagement, and CSI: Miami (the David Caruso show got the highest ratings of the night). FOX was next with Prison Break and K-Ville, followed by The CW with their comedy repeats.

So what did you watch last night?

NBC don't give up on journeyman its going to be a hit. It has some the best writing seen on TV in years. Remember Star Trek started slow as well. Don't make the same mistake twice.

Everyone -- I have to say that Chuck, Heroes and Journeyman is a trio NBC MUST KEEP. Heroes should be on for 20 years. Chuck is a great romp. Journeyman has such compelling characters and really brings you back to different times in your own life. I just love the premise and I think this show has lots of legs/endless possibilities, (actually the same could be said for Chuck and Heroes, too). It's time for America to enjoy some imaginative shows. Also, by the way, Pushing Daisies is a new favorite, too.

I watched the NBC trifecta. Chuck was nothing special, Heroes was as good as always and Journeyman has been most intriguing. I may be biased because I live in the Bay Area, but it's a hip new show with a fun story. I'm not old enough to remember Quantum Leap but this is a great concept. The ratings are an outrage but I say who cares NBC, KEEP Journeyman!

I think Journeyman is one of the best new shows on TV and I love it. It is such an interesting show. I am hoping that more people will give it a chance because it is one of my new favorite shows. I would hate to see it go.

Nielsen counts the 7-day DVR recordings as well -- as in, anything recorded and then watched within 7 days. So I never trust the day-after numbers anymore, since they aren't complete; I think they're incredibly misleading.

Journeyman's not a sure thing, but comparing it to the Studio 60 numbers last year isn't a meaningful statistic -- the S60 numbers were very soft, mostly from hype.

Journeyman doesn't come close to the writing and acting of Studio 60. Bored after 15 minutes.

i'm actually a nielsen ratings person/household, and so i usually try to watch popular shows only by downloading, (especially ones i'm not too into) and watch live what i want to help get ratings. last night these shows i tuned into live were 'chuck', 'k'ville' and 'journeyman'.

i was actually watching the 'journeyman' pilot for the second time. for those folks who tuned out halfway through, it gets really interesting in the second half. i think kevin mckidd is brilliant in that role, really captivating. really hope the show lasts!
