The Daily Show: September 24, 2007

"AhmadineMinute": Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad paid a visit to New York City, home to some of his biggest fans. There's nothing quite as warm and fuzzy as forced hospitality. Actually, I take that back. The graphic joke of a Holocaust deniers carpool lane made my insides all warm and fuzzy.

"Clusterfuck to the White House": 2008 candidates continue to get all the support they can muster, either by reaching out to the old folks ("grey cred") or showing their "average Joe" side by letting a fly buzz and crawl all over them throughout debates. In other news, "Okay, shoot you later. 9/11" is my new favorite sign-off.

"The Henry Stops Here": Senior Historical Perspectivist Buck Henry, aka Old John Hodgman With A Bowtie, stopped by to talk about God knows what. I was too busy staring all the excessive Photoshopping. Anyway, it feels like it's been ages since Henry's first performance on the show, but it's really only been less than a month. Unfortunately, I felt like this follow-up wasn't quite as funny as the first go, which wasn't all that spectacular to begin with. As with the first appearance, I'm not sure if I'm just a little more forgiving with Henry 'cause he's an old guy.

The night's guest was John Bowe, author of Nobodies: Modern American Slave Labor and the Dark Side of the New Global Economy, who was either really nervous or just completely unenthusiastic about being on the show. Then again, secret slavery in present day America isn't a particularly uplifting subject. Bowe talked about a lot of interesting stuff -- well, I found it interesting, mainly because I hadn't heard much about this secret slavery in the States -- and Jon did his best to make as many jokes as possible about forced labor without going over the edge.
