Tuesday ratings: Cavemen attracts viewers; FOX, ABC come out on top

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 3rd 2007 3:39PM

CavemenWhile the new ABC comedies Cavemen and Carpoolers didn't rule the night, they did pretty well in their series premieres last night. But then again, this might have been just viewers curious to see how Cavemen turned out and those numbers could drop a lot next week (and based on the way Cavemen turned out, that's almost a guarantee...).

The numbers for Tuesday: FOX was number one in the 18-49 demo and tied for second in households with CBS (NCIS, The Unit, Cane) with their lineup of Bones and House. ABC was second in 18-49 and first in households with the premieres of Cavemen and Carpoolers and new eps of Dancing with the Stars and Boston Legal. NBC was next in the 18-49 demo (fourth in households) with The Singing Bee, Biggest Loser, and Law and Order: SVU. The CW had new eps of Beauty and the Geek and Reaper.

Tonight ABC has the premiere of the most critically-acclaimed new show of the season, Pushing Daisies.

Good for "Carpoolers," that show was pretty funny as it was, and what's more, it has real potential and deserves to stick around. As for "Cavemen," the premiere was just as bad as everyone was expecting. THe only reason it got ratings at all was because people were curious to see how horrible it was. I expect those ratings to take a plunge, though I hope that "Carpoolers" isn't dragged down under along with the cavemen.

I'm not a fan of the 8-10pm shows on Tuesday. I had a tv on Cavemen just because it was something different. The show sucked and I was able to figure that out in about 1.3 seconds, but there was absolutely nothing else on. I think I ended up watching a movie... The entire night was forgettable.

Caveman... uumm couldn't stay awake to watch the complete show. Carpoolers was a lil disappointing. I'm hoping that show will improve since I have/had such high hopes for it's intended comedy.
Pushing Daises, I'm on the fence with. I really cool storyline.. so my curiosity WILL get the best of me.

The only funny thing in Cavemen - it was supposed to be funny, wasn't it? - was the stone wall hanging in the living room. What a disapointment; I thought the ads and the web site were clever and funny.
