Fox giving us more Kitchen Nightmares

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 17th 2007 1:40PM

Gordon Ramsay

Looks like FOX likes food, reality shows, and people who swear a lot.

The network has ordered another season of the Gordon Ramsay restaurant show Kitchen Nightmares. The show is in its first season right now, and is actually doing rather well considering it has been up against the hype of the new Bionic Woman, Criminal Minds, and the Grey's Anatomy spinoff Private Practice. This means we'll see a lot of Ramsay on FOX in the future, since Hell's Kitchen is on the network and does well in the ratings too.

I stopped watching Kitchen Nightmares after I saw the first two episodes before the show started. Wednesday nights are rather crowded (along with Monday and Thursday and...) and I just haven't recorded the show to watch later. But I really should get back into it. There are so many cooking reality shows on right now, and somehow The Next Iron Chef has gotten me hooked.

i do like this show a lot
however, after watching 2 ep's, it does just seem like "Restaurant Makeover (now w/ cursing)"

my wife also noticed that the show editing is all over the place...for instance one scene he is about to eat his dinner, the flip to the kitchen and back and now he is sitting on the other side of the table (they had mirrored the video for some reason, as you could tell by the menu being backward). and in the past 2 ep's, at the end when they are celebrating, it is in the restaurants with the old decor, so it's like they're celebrating before he changes anything! really weird
i agree with the other poster that it makes me not want to eat out.
i'll have to give the bbc version a try if it's on bbca

The UK's Kitchen Nightmares was indeed excellent - but was shown on Channel 4, NOT the BBC.

This show was a major disappointment for me since I love the BBC version. The Fox version seems like a contrived makeover show, while in the BBC one, Gordon is actually making the management turnaround. I don't think there was a single giveaway in the BBC version, but in the Fox one Gordon gave one restaurant a new brand new stove, steam cleaned another one, and redid the decor on 2 others. Seems too easy!!

K. nightmares is the only show I plan to watch. The BBC show was a bit dry and unseasoned.

I Tivo this one. Last Wednesday, the episode began at 9:00PM, and proceeded to have 4 minutes of "previously on Kitchen Nightmares", then 2 minutes of credits, the 2 minutes of "here's what will happen tonight". Then after a commercial break the actual show itself started at around 9:12PM. I was laughing so hard that they put that much filler crap into it.

For those with DVR conflicts, Sci-Fi is now running the same Bionic Woman episode on Friday's, so I just record it then.
