TV Land to air supermodel reality show, for some reason

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 25th 2007 4:20PM

TV Land logoFans of TV Land have probably been hitting themselves in the head, like they do in those V-8 commercials, wondering when the cable channel was going to debut a reality show that searches for the next great supermodel.

The answer to that question is summer 2008.

That's the launch date for She's Got The Look (formerly titled The Next Great Supermodel, but that was probably too similar to America's Next Top Model for comfort), a new reality show that will look for a new 35-plus supermodel. That's age, not IQ. Though I guess it could also refer to their weight.

The host will be Kim Alexis and the judges will include Wilhelmina head Sean Patterson, Beverly Johnson, and stylist Robert Verdi.

This should fit right into their schedule, right next to The Andy Griffith Show, The Munsters, and Leave it to Beaver. Actually, they've been getting more and more away from classic TV shows and more into reality programming, which is why you now see Extreme Makeover on the network. And that's not a good thing.

Why does TV Land keep trying to change its programming?

It's designed for classic television shows; they should show classic television shows. If people want reality, they won't go to TV Land.

And if someone tries to say that "Extreme Makeover" is classic television, there's no hope for you.

The only way they could get further away from classic tv would be if they showed movies. Oh wait.....

I don't think you can get farther away from classic TV than Extreme Makeover.

So very sad.
